Minox: only once a day, only on hairline. Thoughts?

I'm considering ordering Kirkland minox foam in bulk. I can't commit to applying it more than once a day, and really don't care to apply it over my entire vertex. My vertex and crown look really thick dry, and my front only so-so. My mornings are tight, and I'm certain if I try to apply it in the mornings I will have to skip on a semi-regular basis; I would rather do it at night when I can commit.

Could I just apply to my temples, *entire* frontal lobe, and maybe a bit into the vertex?

Can I only apply it once a day and expect any efficacy?

I had the same concerns, did some research and found out that minox once a day and in the frontal areas can be effective. Over an year later, sadly, I dont see much improvement. Perhaps, you will have better luck.

My personal suggestion is to buy generic kirkland minox (unless you are allergic to PG), apply it once at night, and either dermaroll/wound with a 1.5mm roll or also apply retin-a to enhance results and absorption. Or, do both. I just ordered 6 months supply of kirklands minox off ebay for 30 bucks, thats what im going to start doing when it gets here, as well as throwing some RU in there (dissolves fine in kirkland minox) which should work great great as a hairline topical attack.

There is a study showing minox once a day with retin-a to be as effective as minox twice a day without retin-a. Also, the minox with dermaroll/wound study greatly outperformed the minox without dermaroll/wound study.

The thing is, if you start with this once a day mindset, you'll end up skipping days for whatever reasons. I did the same mistake. It's a hassle if you have a busy life. Shooting for twice a day= once on most days and twice the rest of the time. Shooting for once a day: you will skip days for sure and you will ruin your hairline. I've been there.

Half life on the scalp is like 18 hours so the difference between one and two applications shouldn't be significant. The instructions only say to use twice per day since that was what they did in the clinical trials and they cannot claim that you will get results with a once per day application.

Yeah, I'm going with Kirkland. I'm not much of a brand guy when it comes to these treatments. I don't know shit about Retin-A, I'll have to look into it. Probably won't get a derm roller.

I like the way you think. The thing is: I'm not willing to start something unless I commit to it. I haven't missed a single fin dose in 5+ months. If I do commit to minox once a day, it's going to go down once a day.

Yeah, that's what I've read. I'm really thinking about pulling the trigger, but wonder if I shouldn't wait until 8 months on finasteride because, again, I'm committed for life once I start.

              ===============================================

Another question: are minox shedding and finasteride shedding totally independent from one another, in regards to their mechanism?

I know the whole idea of shedding is basically unproven, so this is probably an asinine question. My motivation is asking is I really don't want to shed again after what I've went through with fin.

The foam is easy to apply and dries quick. You are done applying in about 2 minutes and it dries a few minutes after that. I apply it all over the top of my head and so far i will say the results are not great, but satisfactory. I have also been on fin, but only for little over a month so at least at this point I will give most of the credit for my results to minox.

Also get an anti dandruff shampoo if you decide to use minox. I use Regenepure shampoo to help with hair loss, but need a different shampoo for the dandruff.

I'm definitely going foam. I'm always running late, so I want to be able to shoot it over my frontal lobe, push my bangs to the side, and run out the door (if I decide to go with AM).

I'm using zinc pyrithione shampoo currently, as keto was too hard on my scalp. So, sounds like I'm set.

Missing a day here and there won't ruin your hairline either

It's not hard to use the foam twice a day. When I used to use the Rogaine foam I'd use it like mouse. Just throw it in your hair right before your other products. It's not time consuming. Even now with liquid minox I put it in a spray bottle and do 7-10 sprays and rub it in. Bam! Done!

Bought a 3 months supply. Haven't decided when and how I'll use it.

I may just throw some on the frontal lobe to use as mousse and apply at night more thoroughly.

So your going to use it as a replacement for mouse? Let us know how it works out. My hair is buzzed, but it will leave my hair kind of stiff for a while. Not sure if it has the holding power that mouse does though. Let us know how it works out.

Kinda sorta. I only use a tiny bit of product in my hair currently to kick bangs to the side so they're not lifeless.

I'll probably apply from my frontal lobe to mid vertex and temples. Then I'll kick the bangs to the side and see if they stay. But yeah, I'll follow-up.

I don't have much expertise on this but I've been using minox for a while now. I can't remember exactly when but it was sometime early this year. I'm not sure if its done much to my hairline but it is noticeably thicker. In terms of regrowth, I don't see any regrowth. I do miss a lot of applications too. I hit it once a day quite frequently because usually I don't have time to apply it in the morning and it hasn't affected much. I went from twice a day religiously to sometimes twice a day to pretty much once a day and twice if I feel like it which is about twice a week. I haven't lost any hair or regained any so I don't really know what to say here.

Hope you all the best man!
