If fake teeth are soo acceptable, why isn't fake hair??

Fake teeth are so commonplace. Many people either wear dentures or just have fake teeth for the ones that fell out.

I've never heard of someone saying, 'Oh no, my tooth has fallen out...Let me get a tooth transplant'....

    ---------

Then, why is fake hair a problem?...Why aren't we hair loss sufferers(myself included) wearing fake hair, when our hair falls out?

Many people wear fake hair my friend but they don't visit this forum often. Sites like toplace has its own forum and they tend to support each other there.

I myself have though about it as you can have any density hairline you want in minutes and with secure attachments done with the right glues or tapes you can swim, gym or even go on roller coasters according to some members.

You make a good comparison with teeth as I don't think many women would object to men having fake teeth but fake hair is a different story. Women often enhance their already existing hair with extensions and hair systems (Beyonce for example) not to mention make up and nails for other enhancements but if a man tires to get back something he lost it is seen as emasculating him.

You hear many stories of women who don't agree with it. "Just shave your head and get on with it" "Your living a lie" Well if a women was insensitive enough to say that to me, to ask me to get rid of something that makes me feel less self conscious I would kick her to the curb. Get rid of your make up, extensions, heels, nails and fake eyelashes and I'll ditch the hair.

If it makes your quality of life better go for it. You can look at it whatever way you want. Fake, living the lie etc or not giving into Bladness and the depression that comes with it.

Take control and take back the power. Don't listen to these social expectations that are enforced on us men.

Hair loss is looked upon pathetically by society. Society has ingrained in our brains that once a man loses his hair he becomes unattractive, a loser, etc. And if a man is found out while wearing a hair piece he is a laughing stock, just look at the old movies where it was always a big joke when a man's wig fell off his head in the old black and white movies.

Women on the other hand have been able to get away with it. Push up bras, materials that suck in the belly, fake hair, fake eyelashes, wigs, etc.

I think most of it is that a some man would rather deal with the baldness rather than become a laughing stock by being found out that he's wearing a wig.

Stigma. Just how it's ended up. Societal stigma.

The stigma against hairpieces is bullshit (they are still the only way to regain a full head of hair once you are past a certain NW). However there is 1 important difference I can think of between fake hair and fake teeth....teeth have a more vital function.

Er, because you don't ever have to see teeth. Like, ever. You can have a beautiful smile WITHOUT teeth.

The problem with fake hair, in the past, was that it looked terrible and obvious. Nowadays you can spend money and have fake hair that actually looks like its coming out of your skull.

Well teeth serve a critical function and one can not easily spot fake teeth. Maybe it's just me, but I can tell when a man is wearing a rug, in like 2 seconds. Perhaps since I am a hairloss sufferer, I tend to notice this stuff.

With that said, regardless of reasons, a rug is not accepted as normal among sane group of people.

Because we men find insecure women still attractive, while women do not find insecure men attractive.

fake teeth improves a person's health and appearance.... while fake hair looks tacky and doesnt improve anything.

EMBRACE YOUR HAIRLOSS.... YOU'RE NOT YOUR HAIR, YOUR HAIR IS JUST A SMALL PART OF WHO YOU ARE!

If there wasn't an stigma about wearing hairpieces places like this shouldn't need to exists.

Instead of finding a "cure", changing society attitudes would be a better start.

Oh right, the baldness problem is solved so. Hey guys we need not bother with this forum anymore.

Why are you here Dude7723 if embracing hairloss is so easy?

I wouldnt over think it your teeth are just less noticeable then your hair that is all. Trust me if your teeth fell out they would notice that too, replacements for teeth are more natural looking then what we have for hair too.

I'd like to give you guys an idea about hairpieces and the guys on the forums that wear them as I have spent some time on those forums.

I have been on the toplace and Northwest lace fourms, lace is the base the hair injected onto btw and this sits on your scalp, and they have some amazing looking hairpieces. With a good system the hair when wet even looks like its growing from your scalp.

The guys over there are very knowledgeable and through years of homemade trial and error testing have been getting great results.

You send in a hair sample to a supplier and get a color match. You can specify hairline density and over all density. You make your own template with a hairline as low or high as you want it, with or without temple flaps. You can specify grey hair percentage and a low density for a natural look for the older gentleman.

Believe me the majority of guys doing it right have systems that are undetectable at any distance, you would need to be digging through a persons hair with your fingers to find the lace and attachment.

Guys even make their own partial frontal hair pieces cut from a stock piece to fill in receded temples to restore a straight hairline and they blend perfectly with their natural hair. It requires shaving off a piece of the natural hair to get a perfect blend but it looks flawless. There is a 21yr old guy who has done an amazing DIY job with a frontal partial like this.

Getting the right attachment is the key, an attachment that is secure and the hairline wont lift for days, the glues and tapes are very strong and their is a wealth of products which they guys review and have tested, a good attachment could last a couple of weeks. Some guys sleep and shower in their hairs, they go to the gym and play sports. They all help and advise each other on attaching and cleaning the systems and where they can find a barber who will do a good cut in on a new system from them, there are many people who specialise in this in many countries, I even know a few in Ireland now from my time talking on the forums. Their is a good community their and its more supportive than here, by that I mean there is less arguing.

The hair pieces shed like regular hair so you might need three a year so their is some financial commitment.

Some of the guys find wearing very daunting and others liberating as it gives them their looks back. People worry about getting caught others have so much faith in their maintenance work that it doesn't bother them.

Their is a new skin base system which is the latest break through in fake hair that some guys are using. Many of them tried fin etc before going down the hair system route.

Some guys have been wearing for decades and love the benefits of always having hair with no side effects.

To give you an idea of how good a system can look see here

Its an option guys, dont knock it just yet

Can you imagine how easy going bald would be if fake hair was not looked down on. Heck, lose your hair just go get some fake hair. Ah, would be so nice.

Every man who loses his hair isn't looked upon as a loser or pathetic. Yeah, society sucks in it's treatment of MPB, but you make it way worse on yourself by thinking this ****. There are bald dudes who get hot chicks and guys who shave their head who frankly get over it.

Again, not taking away from how much it sucks, it does and it's affected me negatively just like it has you guys, but lets not pretend like lost hair = loser. Normal people don't think like that.
