    Propecia dosage

So supposedly it doesn't matter what dosage of fin you are take, it all blocks DHT the same? So why are some people taking 0.5mg and others 2mg etc

Why doesn't everyone just take 0.5mg?? Am I missing something here..

I don't have the graph in front of me, but I'm actually surprised you haven't seen it yet. Basically, at ~0.5mg (or something), you are blocking most of the DHT you're going to with fin. As you increase the dosage, you recieve exponentially less benefit relative to the increased dosage amount.

I'm making these numbers up off the top of my head, but say:
      at 0.5mg you're blocking 80%
      at 0.8mg youre blocking 90%
      at 1.mg you're blcoking 95%
      & there's negligible increases thereafter.

I know dudes on this site have the graph that shows it, but it's something along those lines. Furthermore, since we really don't know anything about the side effects (Hell, people even debate that they exist), it's impossible to infer what increased dosage does to sides liklihood. Therefore, to many, they'll take the most "efficient" dosage (example 0.5mg) and hope that is potentially saving them from sides; I'm one "hair cycle" away from just shaving my head at this point.

When I started fin, I wanted to land on the conservative end of things, since my hair quality was still appreciable. I started 0.625 mg, but as I started shedding on fin, I got confident in my ability to take it and quickly upped my dosage to 1.25 over the course of 1.5 months.

Ahhh so it does matter what dosage you take? How are you getting on btw? I would not shave your head, I saw some photos of your hair the other day and I would over the moon if I had your hair. I am getting more and more tempted to start fin, I am going to give minox 6+ months and see how it goes first.

As a senior member I figured you were already on taking medication.
            How old are you BB?
Why are you not on meds?

I'm 23 and on minxodil but not propecia for the same reason that many young guys do not touch it, I am weary of the possible side effects and personally I do not think it is wise to mess around with my hormones at such a young age.

How old are you yourself? You have not experienced any sides yet have you?

                i am 30 going on 31 soon.
i have not experienced any side effects thankfully, but i believe it is all psychological as all meds carry sides.

What norwood level are you BB?

Because it's getting noticeably thinner, and I don't want to be that guy with egregiously transparent hair. I'd rather be the dude with a shaved head than the dude with a single digit count of hairs on top of his head.

I'm only 2 months in on fin, so I suppose by 4 months, I'll know what I want to do (and can use the summer as an excuse to shave).

Are you finally getting on fin, BB? I think most take the full dose just to be safe. There's really no data that shows the magical level of DHT inhibition where you will stop losing hair; everyone is different. Also, it is more convenient and fin is pretty cheap anyway.

Wow so there really is very little difference between dosages. And no Aames, although my situation is desperate I am still holding off on propecia untill I see what minox does for me. Foolish? perhaps, but I am currently seeing a girl and this is pretty much the first time in my life that I am having regular sex so I don't want to take any chances at destroying it.

While i respect your decision to not try Fin, that you are having regular sex this would be your best opportunity to try Fin and test whether you have sides.

As you are NW 2,3, can i suggest you try massaging oil into scalp. This has been used for hundreds of years in our culture to keep hair thick. If you are interested then i can advise which oils.

Well yeah but...then if I do get sides...very bad times. I am more of a NW2 but I am generally diffusing all over, my loss is pretty bad for my age and I can now longer grow it out and have been forced to buzz it down to a 1 mainly because my crown has drastically thinned out.

I have actually been on Divine Herbal Hair Oil 2-3 times per week for about 5 months now and don't feel it has made much of a difference. What do you think about this product?? I never expected any regrowth or anything but I was hoping that it might help strengthen up some of my existing hair a little, it does make my scalp feel nice though and I have not noticed the mpb itch in a long time.
