3 months, 7 days on Proscar, what to make of progress photos

So back on october 7th I began taking proscar, 1.25 mg a day. I also use Nizoral 3 times a week, 2 days between each use.

I have before and after photos of my hairline. My opinion and gut feeling from what I can see is that the balding has intensified. I feel and see more hair falling out, and the photos seem to verify this as well. Could it be that I am simply still in the shedding phase? Is the shedding still a good sign, even after 3 and a half months? If regrowth does occur, will it grow back to the level I had when I started taking finasteride 3 months ago, or will it stay where it is when the benefits start to kick in, after the shedding period?

Anyway, take a look at the photos below and give me your opinion. I thought this might be of interest to you guys considering many of you are currently taking finasteride, or are considering taking finasteride.

For reference, the first photo is taken in August, 2012, when I shaved my head and recognized the balding. The second batch take place in October after being on Proscar for a day or 2. The second batch of 3 take place a month later, and the 3rd batch of 3 was taken earlier today. Any and all advice and discussion is welcome!

I shed up to 6 months. You have to give finasteride up to a year to work. If it's not working after one year then I would suggest switching to Dutasteride/Avodart. Read the first post in this thread.

TheBig 3 The big 3 to beat DHT, THE CAUSE OF HAIRLOSS! - Propecia ( Finasteride ), Minoxidil and Nizoral Here is the thing you need to make sure you understand when it comes to MPB: The main known factor that causes hairloss is DHT. To form DHT your body's 5a-reductase enzyme converts free roaming testosterone DHT

      Honestly?

Your hairline isn't even bad at all, your hair looks quite good and there's no difference in the pictures.

Stick with it. My hairline is worse than yours and i haven't even started fin yet (seriously considering it though) if you are experiencing the shedding it certainly isn't noticeable from the first pic to the last.

+1 to absolutely everything he said:

        -Your hair looks great.
-3 months isn't when you should be expecting to see a positive impact
        -my hair's worse than yours
-I'm not quite on fin yet, but highly likely be on it in 1 month.

Your hair looks solid, my dude. Worry about working hard and playing hard, with an occasional glance at your hair for deterioration.

Thanks guys, I needed the boost in confidence.

While you can't see it, I can simply tell the density in hair has decreased dramatically, and while the hair line hasn't changed, toward the edges it certainly has thinned out.

I guess I can chalk this up to my normal winter shedding + fina shedding, and I expect that the fina will eventually work as it is supposed to.

I'm going to stick with it! Now let's hope that the proscar I bought and started using 3+ months ago is real, and the thinning is from the fina and not natural thinning! I order a new 5 month batch of fincar so hopefully that's not fake either.

I've set up an appointment with a derma so that I can get a real prescription and not have to worry about fakes. I will post another update in another 3 months!
