Hi everyone,
I am a 34 year old male and about a month ago, i started noticing i was thinning on top and receding. I receded a bit when i was 22, and also at the age of 28 I think. I spent my 20s as a Norwood 1, but I would say right now I am a Norwood 2 or 2.5
I have highlighted the questions I have in this post.
I was prescribed Proscar after it was suggested as an option and I decided I wanted it. I also did a blood test on everything, cholesterol, sugar, etc, and a urine test, all of which showed normal results.
The problem I have with Proscar is that it could affect my sexual function, although my libido, pleasure, sperm volume, etc, is already diminished by the anti depressants I have been on the last 8 years. So I'm wondering if any Sexual Side Effects will have an added side effect, or whether it won't even be noticed due to my already existing side effects from the anti depressants.
I am a 34 year old virgin, so sexual side effects don't concern me as much as some other men. I would still like to avoid permanent impotence though. I also wonder if there are drugs that are used to successfully counteract Proscar/Propecia induced impotence? Viagra, etc.
I'm also considering minoxidil, which I will use in conjunction with Proscar. The question I have here is whether Proscar works to maintain my hair right away, or whether it will take a few weeks for it to start maintaining my hair? I am too concerned about shedding to use minoxidil on its own.
