    Finasteride - 4 months in

    Hey there,

I'm 28 years old and I've just completed my forth month on FIN (1mg daily). I've been using Regenepure for a bit but switched to PerfectImage as a KETO alternative to Nizoral since it's kind of hard to find lately, and I've recently added minoxidil to my regiment. So far, absolutely NO results. If anything, my thinning areas have continued to thin and have become even more noticeable. During the first two months of FIN I went through a pretty significant shed, but during the third month it subsided. Still somewhat shedding but not nearly as serious as before, I'd be happy if shedding remained at this level to be honest.

I guess my question is: Is there any hope at all for any regrowth in the future? I know that the main purpose of FIN is to maintain and not gain, but I've actually lost some volume since starting it.

I don't know - is there any hope at all? I'd appreciate any response.

You probably already know that Fin can cause some shed initially. Four months isn't enough to tell if Fin is going to work or not. Most people will tell you to use it for at least a year. The sad and painful fact remains that for some people neither Fin nor Minox will be of any help. I wish some SOB would give hair loss more attention and find a real treatment and PUT and END to this misery.

There is a chance that the areas where you had some increased shedding after starting the Finasteride will get some new hair growth and return to the density you had prior to taking meds. Unfortunetely there is no way to determine which patients will get some improvement and those that will not. I have had patients in both catagories.
