Are Dating Display Ads working for anyone lately

I have been wondering lately if anyone here is actually seeing good results with display ads in the dating space. It feels like something that should work well, but I keep going back and forth on whether it is worth the effort.

At one point, I was struggling to get consistent engagement. Search traffic was okay, but display ads felt like a gamble. Either you get clicks that don’t convert, or impressions that don’t do much at all. I kept asking myself if I was missing something or if the big dating brands were just playing a different game altogether.

So I started paying closer attention and testing small changes. One thing I noticed is that simpler creatives seem to work better. Not flashy, not overdesigned, just clean images with a clear message. Also, targeting mattered way more than I expected. Broad audiences gave me traffic, but very little intent. Narrowing it down helped even if volume dropped.

I also explored some ideas from this page on Dating Display Ads, just to compare what I was doing with what others might be trying. It gave me a few small ideas, especially around placement and audience behavior, not anything groundbreaking but enough to tweak my approach.

From what I can tell, top dating brands are not doing anything magical. They just seem more consistent with testing and refining. It is less about one perfect ad and more about small adjustments over time.

If you are trying display ads right now, I would say keep expectations realistic and focus on learning what works for your audience. That is what slowly started making a difference for me.
