    Hair loss at 23

I started noticing my hair loss almost a year ago. I haven't really thought much about it until lately. I dont think I want to go bald. I was wondering if doing a hair transplant early before I lose too much hair would be better?

Its mainly my receding hairline but I can tell it is also getting lighter in the middle on top of my head.

Also what number would I be considered?

Yeah I never thought of it like that. If I get a Hair Transplant but I'm still losing hair so I will have to get another one in a few years until I'm done losing hair.

I'd definitely battle that with a Propecia/Rogaine combo. It won't lower your hairline but it could thicken up the area you say looks lighter.

            Twhacker,

Hey man, I'm 25 years old and my hair line is a little deeper than yours and more narrow at the top. I've been gradually losing my hair since I was about 20 years old. Its been a slow process thankfully for me, but throughout the process I've tried propecia and rogaine foam.

For me personally, Rogaine foam actually made my hair fall out faster. It actually says that on the can you get, that your hair may fall out faster at first then it'll replenish itself, but I didn't wait around long enough to see.

I got a prescription for Propecia after I actually went to a Bosley Consultation. Propecia worked for me, but insurance doesn't cover it all, got tired of paying for it and I stopped. I think the patent on it is about to expire so then pharm companies can make it a generic brand and it'll be easily accessible, but until then and when I'm done with grad school (and can afford Bosley) I've been doing other things.

I go to a pretty good hairstylist who does my hair perfect with my hairline and facial structure that it all compliments one another. It really helped with my confidence. Also when I started losing my hair I looked to improve other things about myself - I got myself into the gym and built my body up to feel good about myself. I look pretty good in the mirror with my shirt off and it actually compliments not accentuates my receding hairline.

Anyhow - thats my opinion/suggestions/advice - but personally I think you look fine bro.

If you do not want to go bald then it is better you consult a hair specialist for your query to get yourself treated before losing all the hairs. A person should not wait until he loses all the hair and then opt for a trichologist. So, consult and get treated as soon as possible.

Key to hair loss is Decreased DHT and increased blood flow.

Sorry for those of you if these suggestions are seeming repetitive but in my opinion its imperative that these alternative methods be offered to every person seeking council on hair loss. I have been doing these methods and more which you can read about in my thread started on my original account ResearchNeverFails titled Male Pattern Baldness Cured. These methods in two months have showed significant increase in density and all kinds of baby black hairs popping up at my hair line.

(Propecia) Was designed to shrink the prostate. It does simply that. The prostate is where the majority of DHT is manufactured in your body. You can shrink your prostate naturally thus creating lower levels of DHT by decreasing ejaculations. How much you might ask? While trying to regain hair I suggest no more then once per month. While trying to maintain hair once per week may be OK but more likely it would once every two weeks. However, these numbers are not tested and only you know how often you do it and whatever that frequency is dramatically decrease it to both maintain and regain hair. Some may ask well I masturbated/sex all my life how come after my early twenties did I start losing hair? This is because your prostate begins growing at puberty and for most stops increasing at the early twenties when it has reached this size it is particularly vulnerable to ejaculations and If you think that is bad wait till it begins increasing in your 40's again then for some it will be very hard to maintain your hair because ejaculation frequency will have to be even less. Propecia side affects are no coincidence 1. Loss of Libido 2. Inability to obtain erection 3. Inability to ejaculate. The reason Propecia is dangerous especially for the young is the decreased prostate will lower all the male hormones when your prostate is not inflamed directly after ejaculating thus giving some people man boobs, loss of muscle tone and other feminine characteristics. I think Propecia should only be prescribed to men over the age of say......35 unfortunately this countries medical system is far past honest and reliable.

(Rogaine) Is a vasodilator, its active ingredient Minoxidil is referring to the chemical production of Nitric Oxide . Sure it works good at this however even better is the production of Nitric Oxide as it is manufactured naturally through your body during exercise. This does not include weight training I am refering to a light jog or brisk walk for 30 minutes once or twice per day make sure you break a sweat. Another great vasodilator that most people don't use in there day to day life is cold water. All the water on earth besides hot springs are below 70 degrees Fahrenheit for most of the year. The entire idea of showering in hot water is quite ridiculous and has terrible side affects including anxiety, irritable bowl syndrome, dry skin, hair loss, and much more. One cold shower and you will be thanking me the rest of your life. Some say a cold bath is better I feel it best to start off in Luke warm water and slowly decrease when it gets pretty cold I lean over and let the water run through my hair as the blood rushes and then stand up straight again letting the cold water fall down my body. Repeat this several times for a few minutes every time you take a shower you will instantly notice an increase in density and hair quality within a few days. No need for shampoo. Make sure you do not go out into a cold room after a cold shower and check with your doctor to see if its a good idea for you its believed very skinny people should not take cold showers or women who are pregnant.

(Tight Scalps Effects on frontal hair loss) if your front hairline is being formed to a odd shaped head then scalp laxity exercises as well regular scalp exercises will both help you look them up on-line.

Good luck let me know if you have any questions, take before after pictures, be patient and enjoy life.

Think long and hard before ingesting propecia. It can all go very wrong.

I forgot to add I'm 24 now and was seriously thinking about a fue hair transplant.

Even though I enjoy the shaved look I would like to have a more full head of hair.

In this picture you look like a III entering into a IV. You are getting lighter in the middle top of your head.

With your hair shorter, you look like a IV.

Both. Use the foam in the morning and generic 5% liquid Minoxidil in the evening. Put it on your vertex and mid-anterior regions then use your temples to dry the medicine off your fingers. With your hair buzzed down short like that you will be able to get the medicine where it needs to be more easily.

The foam is more stealthy. No one will know you are treating your hair loss, but it is expensive. Rogaine liquid (or generic Minoxidil) is pretty obvious that you are treating your hair loss, but it is not very expensive. Generic Minoxidil is very reasonably priced. Make sure to give it a full year to determine if it is going to work for you.

Many, including me, feel Nizoral shampoo helps. Mainly it helps you with the itching and irritation associated with using Minoxidil. It also helps you achieve a very healthy scalp for treating your hair loss. I use the non-prescription strength Nizoral A-D shampoo twice per week. Others use the full prescription strength Nizoral once per week. Make sure not to over use Nizoral if you decide to try it and add it to your treatment regimen.

I have had good experience with the laser comb. Maybe you would too, but it is expensive and it doesn't work for everyone. Read up on it a bit to see if you might want to try it.

Talk to your doctor about Propecia (1mg Finasteride) or generic Finasteride. Be sure to spend a lot of time talking about possible side effects.

Since you are considering hair transplant surgery, I would say it is in your best interest to start treatment with medications. You will need to stay on the medications either way anyway. Starting now could help you achieve better results when you do decide to have hair transplant surgery. Treat it for a couple of years before commiting to surgery.

I'm not saying you went up another number. I'm saying you look like you went up another number when your hair is so short. You were probably closer to a IV than a III five months ago. But with your hair a little longer you look like only a III.
