23 and starting to really notice hair thinning

    Hey all,

I have been shedding tons of hair over the past year, but I never really thought much of it since I had always shed a good amount, and it wasn't really noticeable because of the way I wore my hair.

When I went home over winter break, my brother commented on how my looked thinner. He is about 10 years older than me, and he has been using rogaine.

I always had very thick hair that I kept somewhat long, but I've noticed that I'm undergoing "miniaturization on top of my head where the hairs are less thick in density and in actual size. It is thinning on the front/top area.

Kinda sucks because I don't look good bald.

So my question is: what do you recommend to stop hair loss for someone my age?

I just ordered rogaine and I'm hoping to get it soon.

I'm worried about what I've read with Propecia, and apparently it doesn't work on top as well?

ALSO: is there such a thing as using rogaine too early?

The other thing I'm wondering is if Head and Shoulders accelerated the process, because I noticed shedding increased with it. I didn't stop because I had so much hair it didn't seem like that big of a deal.

After reading the forums, it seems like Propecia is kind of dangerous. Numerous studies are coming out showing it ruins sex drive, sperm count, etc.

        I've settled on a regimen:

        1. Rogaine
        2. Nioxin/Nizoral

        We'll see how it goes.

I’ve read many people complaining about shedding after long term use of head and shoulders shampoo, so you might want to cut it out for a while. Propecia is really your best option so I would not let what you read from anonymous sources on the internet and small isolated studies deter you from giving it a try. Millions of men are on it and have no side effects.
