Receding Hairline? What do you think?

    HI Everyone

    Hoping for some unbiased opinion.

Turned 33 and have always had a full head of thick hair but have recently noticed signs of a receding hairline, partic at the temples.

I don't know whether it's paranoria on my part (my g/f first mentioned it but has told me to stop being silly) or if it's actually happening - I'm guessing it's the latter. I have always had a high hairline, my younger brothers have a full head of hair so does my dad. My grandad on my mum's side is bald.

Would be interested in some views? Assuming it is the latter - are there any treatments that might help restore some growth? I have heard About Rogaine - is this any good for receding hairlines?

Please find attached some pics. Would welcome some views.

    Thank you

    Martin

Just go see a physician and take small amounts of finasteride or some medication. It's not a big deal considering you are 33. I am 22 and I have hairline recession.

        Some help for you.

Hey, looks like you do have some MPB going on as your hair seems to be receding a bit. There are only two things you can do that are FDA approved:

        1. Rogaine (Minoxidil)
        2. Propecia (Finasteride)

I don't want to get too technical seeing as you are new to this topic. Both work in different ways...basically, Rogaine helps to increase blood flow to your scalp helping to grow/maintain hair (back of the head) and Propecia blocks 50%-70% of DHT (type of chemical in your scalp that eats/miniaturizes your hair).

If I were you, I would research both to get an good idea of the side effects and advantages of both. You will find some people opposed to Propecia, however, I and many many others have used it and it works to maintain and grow some hair (back of the head and sometimes frontal). I would talk to your doctor.

I use both since they work in different ways. Also, a shampoo you can look into is called Nizoral 1% over the counter or 2% which you need a prescription. I use the 1% which is still effective.

People use all three of these treatments and are known as the BIG 3. This is about as much as you can do aside from a balanced diet, proper exercise and sleep.

Your problem seem to be in the frontal area. The only proven treatment to that would be a hair transplant. You can find a lot of information about that on here as well. All I can say is do a lot of research...this is probably the best website/resource you will come across here.

Good luck, and let me know if you have other questions.

OP, you have more hair than I did at 33.

At your age, I had a 6x9 bald area. That's a lot of hair loss.

            Hi guys.............thanks for the feedback!

I was hoping you all might say, I have no receding hairline and I have nothing to worry about?

I know I'm lucky and have a lot of thick hair and never even thought I might start to lose bits of it, I might be just being paranoid! I always took it for granted.

I will visit the doctor in a couple of weeks - get his view and take it from there. If my hairline is gradually receding, I won't to do as much as I can to stop it..................

            Cheers

            Martin
