50% hair loss in 2 months!

    Hi,

Title is fairly self explanatory but about 2 months ago i started to notice change in my hair texture. I was a NW1 at the time, but since then have become a NW2 and lost about 50% of the density on the rest of my scalp. I should probably also point out there was a very stressful event at the time (only last a day or so), will this have contributed?

Wierd thing is i never noticed handfulls coming out, just a few hairs on clothes/ pillow etc - estimate about 100 a day loss (not abnormal). The recession is sort of typical of mpb, getting thinner at front and going blonder however with dramatic loss on the side. Can mpb happen this fast and with diffuse loss? Should also note been on rogaine for 5 weeks now - possibly contributed to some thinning at front. My hair seems to be getting worse by the week. This is particulary stressful as am at college at the moment.

Has anyone got any suggestions on whether they think it is mpb, or treatments i should try?

Note: been to doctor - they just say nothing they can do - as hair loss is not in visible patches its not a thyroid problem...

    Thanks

Do you have a family history of MPB? Sudden loss of hair over the entire scalp is more often do to a medical problem or a recent starting of a new medication.

My maternal grandfather went bald early (20's i think), however every other male family member is not past a NW2. I should probably also note that my eyebrow hair seems to becoming thinner - i lose about 4 or 5 from each if i brush them. The only thing that makes me think it could be MPB is a greater amount of shedding/ thinning at the front and temples, however there is a lot loss is all over.
