Help please
Greetings,
44 year old male in Michigan. Have a very noticeable bald spot on the crest of my head. Exactly like Dan Aykryod right now. Looks like someone took a hair clipper and cut all the hair off the back of my head in a circle.
I have been dealing with this now for almost 8 years. My first idea was rogaine. I spent probably 3 years putting rogaine foam and liquid on my head every month. This did nothing. I switched to extra strength rogaine. No effect. I went to straight Minoxidil, 5% and 10%. No effect at all. After years of this, I moved on to tea tree oil and a special head and shoulders shampoo for scalp health and thin hair. Nothing. After this I tried Biotin, saw palmetto, Vitamin A, and other vitamins that did nothing. Moved on to Biotin shampoo. That had no effect. Tried a shampoo with Biotin and saw palmetto and a DHT blocker. Still nothing. Bought a bottle of pills from Amazon that was supposed to be a DHT blocker. Did nothing.
I am now here, 8 years later and out thousands of dollars, and have achieved nothing. I am very wary of Hair surgery. I talked to a guy on the Bosley website who told me they botched his hair transplant and he looks like Frankenstein with scars all over his head and he has to wear a hairpiece. Same for Finasteride. I have heard many stories of guys "going limp" on this and I have a girlfriend to think about.
I wanted to see if anyone has any last suggestion. I am considering at this point shaving my head. I know some guys don't mind walking around like this, but I feel very old and out of it with my bald spot.
