    Was my dermatologist lying?

Hasn’t buzzed my head in years, recently buzzed down to a #5. Immediately noticed later that evening that my top was thinning. Assumed it was the early stages of balding and went to the dermatologist to get my hands on some precious finasteride after stalking these forums for a month. Dermy told me right off the bat I wasn’t losing my hair. He looked at my crown and scalp with a magnifying glass, performed a “pull test” and recommended Rogaine. This gave me some assurance and didn’t really question my hair until I noticed my scalp became apparent to me under harsh light and after getting out of the shower. I’ve talked to bald guys, family, friends and they all tell me I’m not balding but in my HONEST opinion, I think I am. Can someone help me assess this situation?

Oh, and no family history of MPB on both sides. My mom has a twin brother who has a full head of hair in his 40s and her dad also has a full head of hair in his late 70s . My dad also still has hair
