Ben, 32 and losing the crown!

    Hi all.

Took me a few weeks to sign up here and introduce myself, guess its the whole accepting you have a problem and doing something about it!

So I am 32, been getting stick from my friends for a couple of years now about losing my crown. Been through I'll just deal with it and shave it eventually but I'm thinking I'll try keep it as long as possible. I am exact copy of my Dad and he started about the same age so I know what I am going to look like!

If the image has worked that's me now.

My friend has just started minoxodil and that's what I am going to start today. I bought the 5% foam from UK store boots. Just wondered if anyone had any tips?

Wash your hair, make sure its dry and apply twice a day right? Then wait for the afro.

    Cheers,

    Ben

Hello, I would shave your hair down short, doesn't have to be too tragic, a grade 2 would be fine. I would keep it short during the first few months of application and then once you get some steady regrowth maybe go up a few grades in length. Yes, apply it religiously for twice a day, maybe add derma rolling with a 0.5 mm needle length every other day to help with min absorb and the general stimulation of follicles. Oh, and prepare to get some shedding, but however bad it gets, stick with it, no matter what just stick with it. Then, hopefully halfway through the 2nd month you should start to get some regrowth. All the best and good luck.

ID:	443165Hey man. Tough process. I noticed my crown around the same age, maybe a few years later than yours. I have been using minoxidil and it has worked well for me. I had major side effects with finasteride so I wouldn’t recommend it. I just did a transplant in the front. Only 4 weeks in so hard to tell the results. I might do the crown at some point. Pictures attached.

        Thanks

Hey guys, thanks for the support and advice.

@Diffuse33, I just had my hair cut and it looks ok to be fair. Not heard of derma rolling before I’ll look into it.

@DJR71 good to know it’s not just me! I really don’t like the possible side effects of finasteride so I’ll see how this goes. Transplant looks good to me. What was the process of minoxidil and your crown? Shedding as first?

Minoxidil worked pretty much right away with no shedding. I do see some shedding if I stop using it for a few days.
