    Am I balding?

Hey everyone, just wondering if any of you can give your two cents. 22 years old. I recently over the past 16 months decided to grow my hair and donate it. (Donated about a month ago!)

Towards the end of those 16 months I noticed that the hair on my left side was thinning, at the temple, exactly where I've parted my hair. This is where I even part my hair when I had short/medium hair. I think I can recall that this side of my had had always been a little thinner than the right. But I can't remember if it has been to this extent.

My hair line has always been messed up and hard to work with: I have a widows peak and a cowlick on the right side. But idk I feel like the fact that I'm on this forum and thinking about this stuff makes me think I'm going bald.

Recently had a buzz cut after donating my hair because I never put it in a pony tail and it was always in my face and I just wanted to be low maintence for a while. I took a guard 2 all around and this is the result. The temples on both sides are looking sparse but the middle is fine. I do think it's male patterned baldness because the left temple just seems too rounded. And the right is sparse too. I've lost a lot of sleeping looking at pictures on google images and comparing it to mine. Getting up at random hours at night to look at my hairline again in the mirror one more time.

I understand that if I'm balding it's at the very early stages, but is this how it starts for everyone? And if so, much faster will it get from here on? Noticed this about march and haven't seen any changes since. Thanks for reviewing guys and look forward to what any of you have to say.

I wish I had some responses to my pictures. I truly can't stop thinking whether or not I show signs of MPB and will develop a receding hairline in the near future (next 10 years). I know I might not have the most severe problem on the forum but I still truly am worried. I come here genuinely.

Uploaded some more pictures under natural lighting if it will help any of you.

    Thanks.

It looks like your hairline is maturing.

Does that mean I don't even have a mature hairline right now? But by the shape of the maturing... could I just go straight into MPB?

If you have genetics that allows that. It's normal to have a mature hairline, go look at hairlines of a child, you can see that they are relatively straight and low, and look at the hairline of a non balding male, they are usually higher.

my hair has always grown so funky from the cowlick and my mom said I had an obsessive amount of juvenile hairs for a really long time. For longer than my older brother but his hairline looks more clear and defined than mines right now.

I'm just very concerned of the shape my temples are taking if they are "maturing". I don't if their shapes is typical of a mature hairline

The corners would rise slightly, to form a wider hairline.

Really don't think you are balding. If you are, you're very far from a Norwood one.

It's not abnormal to have less dense areas on the hairline.

During puberty, our bodies pump out MORE DHT than average.

You might be balding. Chances are though, it's much slower than the average guy. Your hairline is in decent shape.

Your vertex is in very good shape.

thanks k9gatton, hearing that from a senior member is really comforting. I'll keep everyone updated if anything changes. Who knows, chances are that it will as my grandfather on my mother's side was balding before he passed away at a decently young age (45).

I just want to also let every know that I have the utmost respect for this community, for those on this forum and those that are not. These past few months I've felt so much emotional distress from this. I might even continue to do so wondering whether or not, "did it get worse???"

Some of you may feel like I dont have the right to rant but I genuinely do feel sympathy for those and maybe even empathy at this point. I've never been one to judge someone who was balding or bald but I think right now there's a depth of understanding I have for anyone that does. And in that, I think I'll be able to find solace when my time comes.

By the way, I'm 22. My balls have been at my knees for quite a few years already, so I've been done with puberty.....

                        Until next time guys.

                        Cheers

As of now i think, you do not need to worry about your hairloss, At this stage hair will easily last 2 more decades considering their density. And at that time you will have alot of options. for now do not worry about it and i have good piece of advice for you " ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY "

It does not look to me like your hairline is receding at all. If anything, there could be a chance of diffuse thinning on the mid-frontal portion of your scalp, but not much. To better gauge whether or not you are thinning, grow your hair out mid length and see what it looks like when you comb it back. Does lighting peek through the top? If so, by a lot?

If you are more than 80% confident that your hair is thinning, talk with a local dermatologist in your area to discuss a possible prescription to Propecia (Finasteride).

                              Hi Reformed,

I personally do not think you are suffering hair loss. It seems that you may have something like a cow lick in your hairline?

Your hair looks strong and dense throughout. My only advice is for you to be vigilant, and consult with a dermatologist as well. Most importantly, learn from my mistake and do not jump into a hair transplant at a young age and out of impulse. If you do decide to proceed with an eventual procedure, do your due diligence on both the clinic and the doctor himself.

                              Good luck my friend.
