    Advice for a newbie

    Hi,

I'm 34 and starting to notice my hair is getting a lot thinner. I've been looking at several of the recommended products but its a bit of a minefield out there. So can any give me some advise on the following questions.

Propecia anyone used it without side affects?
Anyone got any success with natural treatments or applications?
    Saw Palmetto any good?

    Thanks
    Anders

Seeing a doctor is key when considering what to do about your hair loss. Beware of natural treatments sold on the internet. Propecia is known to be the best medication for stopping or slowing the progression of hair loss.

The most commonly known meds to help amongst the hairloss community are:
Minoxodil (foam is getting good feedback) and also the main weapon is Propecia /Proscar.

Research them and see the difference.

In breif - Minox is a regrowth agent - its not going to stop loss. Propecia/Proscar is a DHT inhibitor. They are the same drug finesteride. Propecia is 1mg and Proscar 5 mg.

Cut Proscar into 5th's and you have propecia. Propecia is expensive - Proscar isn't

Hi Anders, as spex mentioned, Minoxidil is one of the most common medicine for hair growth. Apart from that Viviscal provides the necessary supplements. But in my opinion, the causes for hair loss could be many and the appropriate meds could be determined only if the right cause is identified. As you are 34 years old, it is natural to experience loss & thinning of hair. Unless the hair loss is extreme, I would not advice any kind of hair transplant treatment, as it has very low success rate. You may consider consulting a doctor online, for a second opinion.
My cousin used various kinds of hair oil to stop hair loss problem but even after years of regular application, he could not benefit. So consult a doctor at your nearby clinic, if possible.
