    Normal hairline or balding?

    hello everyone,

I have been wondering for a few weeks now if I am balding or not. My hairline seemed to have changed in the last few one year or so. I am 24 and and recently started my career. Work is stressful and in addition I started to get serious about weightlifting recently. I am taking creatine.

I have not noticed any more hair loss than normally. So I do not believe that I am actually not losing hair because of stress or anything. However, I also do not know many cases on male pattern hair loss in my family.

My father started to thin when he was in his late 50s. My brother is 3 years older but there is no sign of thinning. My uncle on my fathers side started to thin when he was in his 30s or 40s... he is 60 now and is about NW4 or NW5 now. There is nobody I know who is balding from my relatives on my mothers side.

    I attached some pics here

I think about starting fin but do not want to take minox because of the sides (somehow seem more common with minox than with fin for some reason...)

    Hi there ElocT9

Overall, you seem to be handling this possible hair issue relatively GOOD!

You stated that " Work is stressful..." after starting your career. (By the way, CONGRATS' bro!)

ElocT9, I wanted to let you know that STRESS can cause issues with ones hair and ones health overall.

Eat healthy and continue to work out.

I personally do not know anything about Creatine and the possible side effects but I am sure that there are other GOOD members here that can talk to you about that .
Later I will do my research on it.
Your hair actually looks GOOD bro!!
It seems to be that you could ONLY be experiencing a maturing of your hairline now, especially since you are now 24 years old.
You mentioned your fathers hair-history and that is relatively good!!
Acceptance is IMPORTANT for everyone so that things do not unnecessarily become 'worse' in re to ones hair and health.

Thanks for your help Artista! Also still believe that my hairline looks good overall... I just have the feeling that it changed over the last few years. Is it really true that the hair line still changes in the 20s? I thought it only does while the body is still growing.

        Not always.
I am only 17 and is receding hairline . But i dont know my future.
But I can say my father's hairline is like yours but as far as i know he has maintained the same hairline for a decade?
So it can also be mature hairline !
        DON'T LOSE HOPE !!!!!

Perhaps it is just a mature hair line. I am just wondering because I am pretty sure it looked different when I was 21 or 22. Thanks for cheering up. I hope you will manage to cope with your aga devilsmaycry!

I actually went to my dermatologist today and we will make a trichogramm later this week. We also had a talk about fin and he was quite a against me taking it and would not write a prescription for it. In his opinion the possible side effects which occur in >1% are to drastic to justify as a safe treatment for hair loss. He rather recommended minox, which I think is not so great because of the possible side effects...

I recently came across trx2, a supplement treatment against hair loss and I took a deeper look into it today as well. There are some negative and positive reviews I could find but overall it seemed worth taking.

I can understand your doctors point as well as other doctors that may say the same thing.
Finasteride as well as any OTHER prescription medicines could cause bad side effects but the overall majority of patients using Finasteride do not suffer bad side effects.
(my doctor has prescribed finasteride to just over 100 patients and he factually showed that no one as experience bad side effects, some of us have minor sides but that's it)
Your doctor is being fair-minded and objective and there's nothing wrong with that.
I'm sure it's also because your hair-loss is not bad at all!!
It is actually a better idea for you to be on Minoxidil to improve your hair!!
You should pick up the multivitamin Biotin as well.

Anabolic products can contribute to future hair loss. Your supplement intake needs to be appropriate, and you should have a balanced diet. By aging, you will see some hairline changes. Based on your family history of hair loss, you might want to have a density check and monitor the hairline and other general areas on top. That is what I think as well. Fair hair makes thinning hair less apparent - especially on the crown.

I am skeptical about minox (more than I am about fin... only my doctor would not like to give a recommendation). I have heard about these problems with circles around the eyes which are hard to get rid of and which I feel somehow I am prone for. My eyes are not the best feature of my face already and they already sensitive for allergies.

I will look at biotin. Pretty easy to get in every pharmacy.
