    27, Bald, and lost confidence

    Hi,

I came on these forums because I am at my wits end. Hair restoration surgery can be expensive, and the desired results are never 100%. I started losing my hair around 19. I saw a little recession around my temples. It was so miniscule and unnoticeable that I didn't pay any attention to it. Plus I spiked my hair at the time and bleached it, so it was unnoticeable and unique. I used my hair to start conversations with women at bars and clubs. It was my source of confidence.

A few years later at 23, my forehead some more and it was becoming more noticeable. By 24 I began to use Rogaine, but I have only noticed it become worse within these three years.

Now, at 27 my hair is thin all over the top of my head. It affects my confidence and I barely go out anymore unless its for work or to the supermarket. I'm single and at an age when I should have a lot of confidence, I feel that women are looking at the top of my head.

I don't know what to do anymore, I tried Toppik, and it doesn't work as well as it used to, as more hair has been lost.

Sorry to hear about and see you situation dude. I have been there as an early hair loss sufferer. Not sure exactly how bad your hair is. Your hairstyle conceals the extent of your hair loss a bit, but if I had to guess you are about a NW4. Pretty advanced hair loss for a young guy like yourself so I would say your hair loss is aggressive. Have you thought about taking finasteride? Might be your best bet at this point.

Thanks for understanding. This has really take a toll on me. I used to be confident in my appearance. I feel like I now l look disgusting. It's amazing what hair can do to your self esteem. It effects all aspects of my life now. By any chance how old were you when you lost yours?

I was 23 when I noticed so I probably started around 22. I was a NW3 by my mid twenties and have been buzzing my hair since then. I was not informed about treatment options until a couple of years ago so I lost a lot of hair and many years before I did anything to treat my hair loss. I am 38 now and I am a NW3 with crown loss and diffuse loss over the entire top of my head. I would say the thing you have going for you is your age. It hasn't been too long since you started losing your hair, so if you respond well to treatments you could end up with a nice recovery.
