Am I receding? Please let me know what you think....

Hi,
I'm 20 and have recently noticed recession in my corner hairline, the right side seems to be receding more than the left. I know it's nothing major but I want to get some answers so that I know how best to approach it. My dads side is mostly bald but mums side isn't.
My hair is thick and curly if I let it grow out and the front forelock is thick, just with the receding corners. it's Is fin a bad idea at 20? I really don't want to loose my hair! Please be honest

Looks more like maturation of hair line to me, which is typical for males. Get a Dermatologist to evaluate it to be sure.

Here is some more recent pics, what do you guys think? is this the start of MPB? My dads pretty bald but his dad had a good strong head of hair and my mums dad also had very good hair. Any feedback is massively appreciated!

Seems like a good hairline to me. How is the density of your hairline? And how is the overall density of your hair? You don't necessarily have to make pictures of this, I'm just asking you.

Thanks for the reply!, my hair is really thick and barbers always comment on how thick it is. Im just worried about the corners but i may just be worried over nothing. I just wanted someone elses opinion, who is more knowledgeable than myself at diagnosing recession/hairloss.Thanks again

I get your worries. Look, you might be receding, but like a poster above me said, it could be maturation of your hair too. Spotting the difference between a beginning receding hairline and maturation can be pretty difficult (well, they are the essentially the same but maturation of your hairline won't do your hair much harm, as MPB will).

Thick hair is a good sign though, that's for sure. If your temples and hairline are also thick and have no vellus hairs, then I'd say you don't have much to worry about at the moment. You can go to a dermatologist to be sure but experience learns that most dermatologists know little about hair loss. Especially with your hair, I don't think any dermatologist would be able to determine wether your balding. What you can always do is to go to a specialised hairclinic. They can make microscopic pictures of your hairline to see if there's actually anything going on.

Great, thank you for the response. Ill give it a few months and see how my hairline changes and if i see any major changes I will check out a hair clinic. Thanks again, really appreciated.

It simply looks like your hairline just matured tbh. However, Your sides/sideburns seem to be thinning. I have the same problem! I wonder what really causes this? Bc MPB supposedly doesn't affect that area.

Thanks for the reply, yeah I noticed my sides are thin compared to the rest of my hair. My hair is very very curly when it isn't cut short and the sides dont look too thin when I run a brush through them (the hair on the sides of my head seem to curl around each other) so it could be that maybe, because I always thought the sides were the very last bit of the hair to vanish. See the thing is IDK if thinning on the sides means we'll be bald in the future, bc according to what I researched the sides/back shouldn't and aren't affected by MPB, so our situation sorta contradicts everything. Hopefully another person can explain this more thoroughly.


Plus I heard something about thinning on the sides===> DUPA! Which scares the soul outta me, but then again I see a bunch of guys who have thinning sides and still have a full set of hair....so confusing.
