Not sure what type of replies you're expecting because we'd need to see some pictures to give you an opinion. There are many guys your age and younger here on the forums, so it's definitely not out of the norm.

From my point of view you are balding, but it is hard to determinate from these pictures. Could you show your hair and hairline when it is wet and slicked back from a birds perspective? Picture of your profile would also help.

If I were you.. get a prescription for finasteride.. it's dirt cheap, I pay $4.00 a month for the generic stuff. You cut the pills into four.. start taking one little piece a day and stop thinking about it.. if the pills don't work nothing likely will.. it will likely take at least 5-6 months to possibly know if it's working and hopefully may start growing a little back.. bottom line is stop it in it's tracks. Read about the side effects and either make the choice to go forth or not.. some posters will scare the heck out of you but bottom line is side effects effect a very small percentage and you just need to figure out whether you want to take the small risk. I personally haven't suffered any and I had regrowth and thickening. If you decide to do it just don't expect to see changes in your hairline anytime soon , just forget about it and go on with your life and hopefully in a year from now you still have the same amount or more.. then you'll know your good to go. You may consider a double whammy using rogaine too.. I decided no to though just because I couldn't imagine maintaining that the rest of my life.. popping a cheap pill is easy .. applying sticky drops or foam twice a day is not... but it may be advantageous at first. Sorry.. I ramble.. good luck!

I heard some GPs on the NHS prescribe fin but I rly do not know as I am in the USA. If you do not find a doc who will prescribe, try ordering from inhousepharmacy

                    hey bro,

you might just have a mature hair line. I would get an appointment with dermatologist to make sure it isn't mpb. If you do have MPB, then get on minox and nizoral. Don't listen to these guys telling you to take Finasteride at AGE OF 18. You are still developing, last thing you want is a drug that will effect your hormonal levels. I wouldn't recommend you taking finasteride until you are atleast 21.

Thanks everyone. After researching the sides of fin I am a bit against taking it but I heard good stuff about something called saw palmetto and beta sorstial can any one vouch for that?

Dude. Fin at 18 is nothing. You need DHT to have a successful puberty, this guy is not going through puberty @ 18
Unless he had a very unusual hairline by nature then he is balding, i nfact if you look at his forelock it looks like the frontal hair are miniaturizing. If he waits 3 years to take DHT inhibs he will be screwed
He is doing the exact right thing, catching it early enough to make a difference & getting info on how to treat it

About those small hairs. I might be wrong but I think they are growing longer

Probably. But the concern is not length it is thickness. Hard to tell in the pic but they seem wispy. Cut 1 of them near the scalp (do not pull it out), then cut a piece of 1 hair from farther back in your forelock where it looks more dense/healthy
I almost guarantee you will see a huge difference in the quality/thickness of the strands

The best hair transplant surgeon in the world could not make a diagnosis based on that photo. Go see a professional and start meds if you need them. You'll be fine. The meds work great when started early.
