Hi Guys! Brand new here and currently looking for some input on my current hair situation.
When I was 25 years old, I started to lose some hair in the frontal areas of my head. Thankfully, I went Dr. Feller and had a 2,200-2,300 FUT performed in early January 2013 and I'm happy with the results. Dr. Feller and his entire staff was extremely nice throughout the whole consultation and procedure.
Unfortunately, I've noticed my crown area starting to thin which I didn't expect to happen so soon. So at the moment I'm kind of at a crossroads to either start Propecia or wait until my medical rotations end at school and have another procedure performed with Dr. Feller in April 2014.
Obviously I've heard of the potential side effects associated with Propecia especially regarding sexual dysfunction. I know its only a small percentage of individuals but I'm still wondering if I should just wait and deal with the hair loss until hopefully seeing Dr. Feller next year. I heard about individuals of having prolonged side effects of sexual dysfunction but I'm curious if it could due to taking too much Propecia in a short period of time instead of tapering up? For example, Lamictal is known to cause the steven johnson rash which is potentially fatal but as long as patients appropriately taper up with the drug, they wouldn't have to worry about getting the rash.
I'm located in Buffalo and I'm finding it difficult to even get a prescription for Propecia. I went to my primary care office and the NP referred me to a urologist. When I called up the urology clinic to schedule an appointment, they informed me they don't prescribe Propecia. Frustrating to say the least...
Thanks for your time and I look forward to your replies!
