    Getting a prescription for propecia?

I have a question, I'm a 20 year old male about to turn 21 in a few months who has started to lose his hair. At the moment its not a problem or very noticeable but it is noticeable if you actually stare at my hair, My GP doesn't want to do anything about my hair loss because according to her I'm not losing hair. I was just wondering if I go see a dermatologist, is male pattern hair loss something that can he diagnosed by just looking at my scalp or do test's need to be run and can I get propecia on just one visit to the dermatologist. I heard the best time to do something about hair loss is at the first signs of it.

I would say a dermatologist is more knowledgeable than a GP on hair loss, but that's certainly not absolute. You might benefit from calling the clinic ahead of time to foreshadow your concerns and have them confirm the doctor knows about MPB.

Don't be foolish and wait to get on fin like a lot people do once they are a NW 2.5 to 3.0. If you wait that long then all you be able to accomplish is to stop your hairloss but not regrow what you lost. I got on fin two weeks after I noticed my hairloss. You can't tell I lost any hair in the first place. My dermatologist wrote me a prescription for it. She acctually suggested it I try it. I was worried about the sides, but I haven't experienced any sides at all. I've been on fin for a year. I was the best decision I ever made. Good luck.
