Ketoconazole (shampoo or creme) and PGD2, cox2, etc.

can we find any connections between the keto and either PGD2 or COX2 or CRTH receptors?

    I guess ketoconazole is nizoral?

The CYP17 inhibitor ketoconazole (Scott et al. 2009) reduced testosterone production without affecting PGD2 synthesis (Figure 3D,E).

However, it seems that KCZ also influences themetabolism of cyclooxygenase products. The drug has been shown to inhibit thesynthesis of thromboxane [7] while concomitantly stimulating thesynthesis of prostaglandins PGE2 and PGD2
doesn't give any numbers though... PGE2 stimulation could be much higher than PGD2 so extra PGE2 may offset the inhibiting effect of PGD2?

            PGD2 increase by 20%
            PGE2 increase by 50%

that would still give you a positive effect even if PGD2 is slightly increased

hmm, well people have been using it for years and havn't gotten significant regrowth, so perhaps that wasn't it. It did help with the itch tho, and cleared up my scale scalp REAL well.

Does anyone know if Ketoconazole is an anti-androgen or specifically anti-DHT? I seem to have heard it both ways.

I have been looking into Extina foam lately. I'm using 2% conditioner right now, but if this is more effective obv I would like to give it a try. I really wish there was more information on its effectiveness.
