    What's wrong with transected hairs?

Say if Gho is doing that, isn't he still getting 2 hairs for 1? As he is leaving half of the follicle behind?

no, say you are getting a 1 graft procedure from gho

also say the only follicular unit you have on your head is a 3 hair follicular unit

he punches the graft out, leaving enough stemcells in the donor for one hair to regenerate

he plants the remaining stemcells in the recipient, they form 2 hairs there

one hair grows in the donor and two in the recipient

    total hair count= 3

if he grafts it and 2 grow in the donor and then somehow 2 grow in the recipient than you would have 4, an increase from your beginning 3

The question is, when you transect the stemcells, do the stemcells make up for the lost stemcells by creating what was there before? for instance, do the leftover stemcells in the donor regenerate some or all of the removed stemcells? similar to what skin and other bodily regenerations.

or are the stemcells zero-sum. This means there can be no increases in the given amount of stemcells, you can only take one for one. I

believe, like many other things, that each implanted stemcells, that are in donor and go in recipient, will tend to regenerate the lost ones, such as skin and other body bard regenerate what they can. This would explain how GC started with lots of two hair follicles in his donor, and ended with lots of two hair follicles in his donor AND his recipient.
