Looks like this has been completed. Unfortunately for us, this was only a concept product...

Our plans in the future consist of examining our product on model mice for androgenic alopecia (male pattern baldness) as a proof of concept. We would like to utilize this model to prove that our combined solution for this condition can actually show results (in-vivo). If this succeeds, we will continue on to perform human trials.

We also believe that our new application of utilizing the human microbiome (genetically modify it for a specific cause ) is a promising new way to treat different conditions

Pilox inventor was just a former technion prof/student, but Pilox was not funded nor a program of Technion

Here it's a Technion student team who work on a new solution. Their bacteria with gene modification could apparently make DHT effects disappear in hair follicles. So it could be huge, and they wouldn't participate at the IGEM thing if it was fake claims i think

though commercialisation is far away unfortunatly

no I don't think they are. I don't know much about Technion. but it seems like this is project that the students are working on. nothing for sale yet, if ever.

I did try to email them and ask a couple more questions but I didn't get any reply back. I guess we won't hear anything until late September

They have several videos talking about reasons for baldness and they mention that they are working on an idea, but not much more info is given other than what we already know. They did say that their "idea" will be presented at the end of September as well as their results. Not sure if these results are on human subjects or if they were tested on mice/rats though.

Either way, looks like this is still early in development and may be far far off from realization. There was a button to contribute to their product, I may do this just to say I tried to help the cause

You seem very sour that treatments may come out which could hold people at the NW they are. If you can halt the activation of androgen receptors and maybe stop PGD2 then maybe your hair follicle then has the chance to miniaturise naturally - Stopping that cascade of problems

What if you get to a point you can reduce enough DHT in the scalp at such a low level that if any goes systemically it won't affect someone going through puberty. If I ever become a dad I would love this option for my son - Maybe something this comb or the new transdermal delivery such as Follicept can do.

Don't panic dude. I for one think it's good that we are working at both angles for hair loss. If there was a safe way to deliver DHT to the scalp before a kid starts to bald/hit puberty then maybe you could get the same effects as castration. Or maybe it's not reduction in DHT, maybe antagonise all AR locally, same principle in terms of minimal amounts being delivered. And if you miss this window, get burnt, want a better hairline ect then hopefully in 10/15/20 years time we can simply go get HF grown and implanted. Or maybe something else with skin wounding ect. At which point you will be thankful there is a way to stop your new hair follicles being damaged again.

Whatever the case we aren't in this mess because of people wanting to maintain or w/e. We are in this sh*t because no one takes baldness seriously, no one takes the mental health issues from baldness seriously.

Yes you got it right, nobody take baldness seriously and that is why we don't get the cure soon

this "at least maintain what i have" is the exact reason why we are in this mess. because it wont. yes it wont keep ur hair forever. if u star losing, this disease wont stop until u die. u will be nw7 eventually... not in ur 30s maybe in ur 60s... and when u look at the mirror, it would still come as a shock

Androgens are just still one of the only proven answers we have and if you want to simply stop MPB then DHT is a key. So stopping that better or more safely is still a goal if it can be done better than its done currently. Yes stopping androgens wont regrow any hair most of the time. A lot of men(me) would simply be happy keeping the hair they have.
I dont know what this means or if it even means anything. File it under not that important IMO until they show it doing something more significant than propecia.

Out of the subject, but they are using a bacteria as a vehicle for their cloned gene to suppress dht

now what about if they use that way to bring immunosuppressant drug exactly and just where we would need it in a case of hair transplant follicles from an other donor? If you implant those follicles, use that targeting immunosupressant everyday, and if of course IT HAS ZERO SIDE EFFECTS and it's just targeting the follicles without acting to the others cells,etc , can't it be a solution?

It sounds impossible but I think it is an easier solution to find and to translate to clinical application than the real cure unfortunately

1) You cannot CONSTANTLY destroy all localized DHT to your hair follicle. The chemical will get into your blood stream, and will spread.
2) You cannot destroy all DHT without destroying 5AR, which Finasteride can already do at high doses. And guess what happens when you destroy all 5AR+DHT for an extended period of time? I'm sure the thousands of negative testimonies online will qualify as evidence.
3) Destroying DHT will only slow down the process, it will not reverse baldness. You can cut your balls off and still not reverse it completely, because it is not the destructive force.
4) The best REGROWTH agent we have (minoxidil) has nothing to do with DHT!!!

We CAN destroy nearly all DHT in your body already, guess what... its not going to cure you.
