Thanks for the update Devon, much appreciated!

One question -- when the IGF-1 is received, how long does it typically take your team to make a treatment? Is it a relatively straightforward and quick process? Or does it involve some sort of aging/refrigeration/whatever process?

      "Against basic principles of decency"?

I think the above is unwarranted and rude. It says more about you than Follicept because to basically call someone indecent over a simple miscalculation shows that you're too quick to denigrate other people. Basically, your own personality is what goes against basic principles of decency.

And keep in mind that I myself have reservations about Follicept's treatment but there is no reason to be out-and-out rude to them at this point.

...so if everything goes as planned we could have a result in the end of this month. You are right, I am skeptical :-)

Anyway, I actually have more of an update than I was hoping to- some good news!

As far as the past few pages of comments, we are definitely not a typical company. We are small, and we really value working with the people we are out to help. It's important for us to involve you and understand what you need and want and get your input. Serenemoon hit the nail on the head. And we aren't asking for help with the clinical trial, but if we could get some extra help with supply, why not?!

As for gerbil/hamster studies, those cost similar amounts to just going straight to humans, so why spend the money?

We are open to licensing our delivery technology to other companies, and are even discussing with some already. But it WILL NOT be available just to sell to the public and let you mix in whatever you want. We need to stick to tested, safe products. Plus, we hope this will be effective enough on its own.

Dr. Hsu has alopecia areata- autoimmune so Follicept may not help but he is likely going to try.

Now, for the real reason you are here:

We found a supplier that should work for us in the short term. It was a company we had looked into before, but asked them some better questions and it turns out it will work. Thanks for your help in locating them.

We have ordered the IGF-1, and it's backordered but "will be delivered during the week of 17 April". We are also looking into other suppliers just in case.

As for the long term manufacturing, there are several reputed companies who CAN produce cGMP IGF-1, but just don't because the market is small and Increlex takes care of that disease population. So we are discussing with some of them to get going for the long term.

I will start a test on myself as soon as it gets in and will post video as I start and keep you updated throughout. Hopefully it will work with vertex, thinning, and hairline! We shall see.

In the meantime, we will probably do an AMA/ video chat type thing with myself and Dr. Hsu in the next week or so, stay tuned!

Thanks for all your help and support. It finally feels like things might be moving along. Sorry for the delay, we never thought it would be so hard.

WOW THIS IS TERRIFIC NEWS. I HAVE TO ASK THE SAME QUESTION AS KEIKI. how long will it take to get the batch going after you receive the IGF?

I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO EXCITED FOR EVERYTHING.

even if it doesn't work thank you for getting this moving ASAP

THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR WORK GETTING THAT SUPPLIER, AND ALSO WORKING ON THE LONG-TERM SUPPLY. AMAZING

Devon, the first part of your post (above) is a reference to the issue I raised about how it seems somewhat out of the ordinary for Follicept to accept assistance from regular-Joes at a hair website in locating a chemical agent for clinical testing. The fact that this was the first issue you addressed shows that you understand that my issue is a reasonable issue. Thanks for addressing the issue. I'm not saying I think your response satisfies my concern 100% but at least I do have your response now. This issue on its' own would not prompt me to think that there is wrongdoing going on Follicept, but I want you to know that I am keeping score to see if there's an increase in peculiarities. That aside, I do kind of think there is some validity to your point because you are a tiny company and a new company so I can understand somewhat why your situation is different from say Merck or Glaxo.

That aside, I definitely think you should offer a chance to get stock at a good price since we are actually involved in helping you with the project. If you have actually found a cure for hair loss there will be lots of money made off of that. More money than the few of you at your company could spend in 10 lifetimes.

Haha thanks guys. Takes very little time to make Follicept from the raw materials. Probably the same day we receive the sample. I will update as soon as I receive it and start using it, and then check in with pics every week. As soon as we start seeing results, maybe early to mid May assuming all goes well, we will launch indiegogo as the presale batch. Might be US only but looking into international of course. If results are positive, we might be able to get an early batch out by early summer (despite what many said here!) and begin scaling up production for full product by fall/winter... exciting!

And I forgot to mention in my previous post that I know you said you ARE using human IGF-1 but it's being posted that you are using ecoli IGF-1. If you use ecoli IGF-1 the treatment may not work simply because you didn't use human IGF-1 and then you will wonder if using human IGF-1 might have made the treatment work. I think you should give your experiment the best possible chance of working right from the beginning by taking the time to secure human IGF-1.

Amazing news! thanks for all the hard work...

After your first "in house trial" with the initial IGF batch, when are you planning to conduct a more comprehensive trial with more participants?

I'm close to your facility and will be very interested in participate

Best of luck, Devon! Before long we'll see you here with a flowing mane and you'll be posing on romance novel covers and making Fabio jealous XD

Wouldn't it be exciting if it worked on Dr. Hsu as well? A nondiscriminating treatment that works on all kinds of hair loss...a new generation of beautiful hairy souls.

And when y'all are rolling on fat stacks of moolah and getting your insulin patch ready, remember us little people. Because while we're whipping our hair back and forth, we'll definitely remember you.

No pressure though, it's unproven so skepticism is healthy. But nonetheless this is very exciting news. Fingers and toes crossed for your success.

We plan to start that asap, within a few weeks of my starting- as soon as we get IRB approval and logistics in place. Did you email your name to the email address in the Gainesville Sun article? If so, we will be contacting you soon with more info. If not, please do so.

God, please let this work on the hairline. Please.

I've lost about 1cm of hairline/temples and I don't think fin will recover it. I've been praying day and night over the past year for something to come out of nowhere, something that I could apply to my head and revive dormant follicles, something that wouldn't even need FDA approval. And here comes Follicept. I always believed this was possible, we just don't know what to deliver and how. It makes sense that a miniaturized follicle can become "maximized" again. I have faith in this. The science looks good.
