Interesting: Pumpkin Seed Oil Helps to Regrow Lost Hair

    Hey Guys,

I originally saw this posted on BaldingBlog and thought I'd share the original study.

Pumpkin seed oil (PSO) has been shown to block the action of 5-alpha reductase and to have antiandrogenic effects on rats. This randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study was designed to investigate the efficacy and tolerability of PSO for treatment of hair growth in male patients with mild …

To summarize, a study was conducted that showed men strictly taking 400mg Pumpkin Seed Oil daily regrew hair.

If it's not that expensive, it may be worth a shot?

    What do you guys think?

    Cheers!

Might want to check out: http://www.hairlosshelp.com/forums/m...hreadid=111406

tldr; the supplment used in the study wasn't JUST the oil, it was mixed with other things as well.

Having said that, there are studies out there linking PSO with DHT inhibition.

The study was supported by the producer of the PSO in use as they declare in the acknowledgements still though its very interesting and warrants further exploration. The only real critical piece of evidence it seems to lack is a recording of DHT levels pre and post treatment however free test levels are recorded and show around 10 - 15% increase from baseline levels in the intervention group.

edit: Just looking through that thread it seems as if a study has shown that it blocks dht in rats and possess an inflammatory effect...I'm going to give it a go.
