This miracle, side free cure will never exist. Potential for sides will always be there.
Go read about CB. Not necessarily do there have to be sides especially with a fortunate condition like MPB where something can work topically. CB turns into a harmless compound when it enters the blood stream a naturally occurring chemical dont remember what its called. Internally is a whole different story hence our propecia stories.

...I read on one of the threads here that one of Hasson or Wong stated privately to a patient of theirs that there will be something released in 2014...

..anyone know what they may have meant?? That's a pretty bold thing to say from a HT surgeon...

No, I am just a guy that has had some success on finasteride. I was afraid of sides at first, but the thought of going slick bald forced my hand. I wish I didn't have to take fin, I don't like drugs of any kind, and even try to avoid taking over the counter ones. It sucks that our treatment options are what they are, but what are we going to do? Some of my posts might be over the top in support of finasteride, but we all need to realize that unfortunately we only have a couple of things that work. People who want to keep their hair need to seriously consider taking finasteride or accept that hair loss will eventually catch up with them. How long will we all have to wait for a perfect side free cure for hair loss? I have been waiting for 15 years.

I hear what you are saying about CB and would try it if it was readily available. I am not saying CB isn't side free, but how many people are actually using CB to get statistics on incidents of sides? I guarantee if the users were in the millions like propecia, there would be some kid claiming he has ED, brain fog, or some other sides. I would definitely be open to trying other options besides finasteride. I don't care what I use as long as it doesn't kill me and it works to regrow hair.

News to me - I'd be interested to know what they're talking about.

That was in this thread. No one seems to know what topical the surgeon was referring to, he says it was mentioned at a conference. I'm just going to presume that this surgeon has better knowledge on this stuff than the forums and hope that he's correct - we'd probably be surprised how often the boards collectively miss important products/events/research.

On the other hand, there's a chance he's just talking about CB or the nitric oxide thing and he's just confused/ill-informed with regards to the approval process.

So in case of effectiveness, do you think that as a NW1.5, that there would be safe if one starts using these next generation maintance products, would it be safe to take a hair transplant ? or will the effectiveness be like propecia and can start to wear off...

TBH, I'm so pessimistic now that I am almost thinking that GSK getting Avodart licenced as a treatment for androgenic alopecia is the only way that a 'new' treatment will be released in the next decade!

They failed and had their financial backing pulled.

Hey, if it works we can knit a sweater after a haircut, how great is that?!

They did mix spider and goat genes together and now you have silk protein in goat milk.

Because noone cares if the sheep die.

Do you want to be the first person scientists test on changing you so you have sheep genes so you can have hair everywhere? Exactly.

Just because you are losing your hair don't mean you gotta lose your head.
