I kissed your scalp and caressed your brain

    It's buzzcut season, anyway

I dont let myself repeat my own mistakes too often but Ive let me self believe in too many of these wishful thinking timelines just because i want to believe. In a fairly short time by forum follower standards Ive seen (neosh* intercytex, aderans) all go poof.

Ive also let myself believe that follica was just around the corner and was basically a done deal game changer just like Dr. C was saying.

          NO MORE THOUGH.

We really need to force ourselves to be objective and realistic about the timelines let alone the potential of these treatments. The amount of anger, sorrow, heartbreak that is on the site after some vague negative speculation is just insane. FOR ALL the younger guys---focus on school and securing a good job while we await any upcoming treatments because all the hair in the world wont help you down the line without a future to go along with it.

Older gentleman--focus on your families, being a better dad. getting in good shape. when/if we get our 'cure' in 5 or 10 years you'll want to have the rest of your life in good standing.

          Just my thoughts.

sorry for the longwindedness but I just feel so sad for the reg posters on here who you can really tell the best part of their day is arguing with others on here and just trying to be right. that's no life at all.

Glad to see Desmond hopeful again.

These articles and "groundbreaking" stuff will always be around - but they will never reach patients in our lifetimes thats for sure.

agreed. Every 6 months there seems to be some major 'breakthrough' or 'cure could be on the shelves within 5 years'. Then you never hear about them again or the company shuts shop like intercytex and aderans. I expect Replicel to go next, but at least we'll have Cotsarellis offering us false hope every few years.

The dermatologist who diagnosed my MPB said "not in our lifetimes" about the possibility of anything better than fin and minox, and this is the first time it's really sunk in.

Take it from me, i've been to dermatology clinics since I was a teen because of vitiligo, alopecia areata, and MPB, i'm 24 now, going on 25 in a few months. Generally, dermatologist are clueless about MPB. You'll find more information abut MPB from the average 3-5 year member of a hair loss forum. Better yet, ask one of the doctors that roam around here for info. Visiting a dermatologist for anything other than a prescription for fin or dut is pointless.

I've said it on here before, but I went to a top derm clinic here in New York and mentioned finasteride and minoxidil, the doc actually asked me what that is. I had to use the name of the brands as seen on TV, which is Propecia and Rogaine. At that point I realized I was wasting my time talking to them about MPB. Don't ever think dermatologists are up to date about MPB research, they most likely are clueless. Unless they are hair specialists, you would probably know more than them about MPB in theory.

I so agree! Derms just don't make much money out of us

                              Desmond,

A question about the procedure (when it ever comes to the market)..
When they are aible to cloon hair, and you are a nw7, you need lets say 40000 hairs for a really good result. Is it then neccassry to implant 40000 single grafts?

According to their last study, they injected 24 "hair germs" into a 1cm2 area to yield approximately 120 hairs/cm2. This had a 80% success rate which is magnificent! Fitting 24 hair germs in 1cm2 is far easier than implanting 60-100 grafts!

I should say though, things may get a little bit more complicated with human trials. There is a possibility that the hair germs will not grow to maturity on their own when injected in the human scalp...meaning we have to grow them to maturity first then implant them like a transplant. If this problem does arise then we may have to do the large hair transplant sessions you mentioned to bring a NW7 to NW1. But it will be possible

Here's the photo of the mice if you haven't seen it btw (he's our hero ):
