Scienists
Clone human: "Easy!"
Regenerate hand: "Easy!"
Regenerate heart: "No problem!"
Transplant head: "Easy peasy!"
Transplant face: "Easy as ****!"
Regenerate any organ (besides hair): "That's so easy you insult me by asking!"
Clone/regenerate single hair: "YOU WOT M8? THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE! IT'S GONNA TAKE 30 YEARS!"
Seriously, we don't have cure for baldness yet because medical/pharmaceutical companies see it as no big deal as it's non life threatening. So the research and funding on baldness cure is not extensive enough. Even cancers give you a chance of recovery with current meds and treatments, but baldness is ruthless. If your baldness starts you're basically ****ed, unless you cut your balls off. I don't like comparing baldness to cancer but that's how it is. MPB gives you no chance and you can't control it.Comment

This is false, it's not the first time, we already have people walking around with stem cell made organs (trachae) for several years.
(first time ever was in 2011: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-14047670 )Comment

And this is also false. Team Tokyo succeeded at bio engineering a human hair follice, producing human hair almost 2 years ago and a few months ago Jahoda et al did so too, but they even grew it on human skin.Comment

And this year they're going to start with the first human trial EVER with induced pluripotent stem cells (IPS cells), which is a HUGE step forward. All these trials are going to take time (Team Tokyo is expected to start next year), but if you're saying 30 years, then you're one of these guys neglecting all (above mentioned) progress.Comment

Yeah, maybe a cure will come when we'll be 50-60 years old, but what's the use of hair then? We can as well be old bald ****s, nobody cares then. Being young and balding is hell.Comment

Yeah but apparently it's going to take decades until it will be polished and commercialized. There's just no hope for our generation of baldies.

Bottomline: huge progress IS being made. Thinking in a 30 year timeframe for baldness to be cured is just not very reasonable imho.Comment

No it's just that the road from the lab to the patient is a long way. They succeeded at bio engineering a human hair follicle but is it safe to grow in humans ? And the key here is that in order to do this for the masses, they'll need IPS cells, which haven't even been tested in humans. But on the other hand, to me it's quite amazing that in just a few years after discovery of IPS cells, they tackled all problems (cancerous activity etc) and now are ready to start testing it in humans !! It's just a long road. But we're getting there.

So 42 years have passed and we don't have anything better for regrowth than mediocre Minoxidil.
