Comments by Follica's Bernat Olle have indicated that they are moving forward, likely involving a medical device that will do the dermabrasion. So rather than a drug, we may see a device being approved. The drugs they are using I believe, are already FDA approved compounds.

Just like ARI, a number of Follica's team left over the past year, so many believed they failed. However, I believe the FGF9 discovery this year was their way of letting us know, "I'm not dead yet!".

Not that I know of. The key to watch out for is - will they raise money? Prior to every clinical trial, they need to raise money, and they will likely do a financing round. I don't believe they have yet, but if they do, then we should expect progress.

Their basic procedure is - wounding the skin pushes the skin into an "embryonic-like" state, and when the skin heals, it can either become hair follicles, or just skin. By upregulating certain pathways, they can force the skin to grow follicles, or so they believe.

Basically sandpapering your head will grow some hair. Follica is trying to make a treatment that involves sanding your head+topical lotion = hair.

Try to remember, Follica is growing mini organs de novo. This is real breakthrough stuff, and obviously extremely difficult. If they crack this, this has serious, broad ranging implications. I dont know about penis translplants though. Just messing with you.

It should be safe, but the problem is that continuous activation of Wnt can lead to bad things, like cancer, but the safety profile is really unknown at this point in time.

Anyway, it's far easier to provide a scaffold and allow the body to repair itself than completely regrow something. If a soldier severely damages his leg and loses a ton of tissue things can be done. They are making a lot of progress when it comes to restoring lost tissue. But literally giving someone their leg back when it is completely gone is likely still a long way off.

You need someone that is determined to completely solve the problem in an uncompromising manner but also for others to simply release something that is markedly better than what we have today. If Histogen could simply release an obviously superior product in a timely manner it would be a huge step forward even if it isn't a quantum leap forward.

What really amaze me is fact that there is still no real treatment for hairloss( im talking about people who dont want to use fin, because for the fin users there is obviously a treatment). They are working on cloning a ****ing mammoth but hair loss is to hard. They can now transplant heads, but hair loss is to hard.

I am no scientist and this is probably more about financing and priorities but Thats's the thing what really irritates me.

And what also bugs me is that follica is so quiet about their research. I mean okay you dont want the competition to find something out but at least give us some more info. I really clinge on the positive news i read on this forum, because I have lost a lot of my confidence.

I don't think this is a dark period of time for us...

Histogen: Showed results that are better than minox and fin combined with no major side effects (IN THEIR SAFETY STUDY)

RepliCel: Going into phase 2 studies, got a 7 million dollar investment in their hair regeneration technology. (obviously they have something there for this to happen, Spencer has faith in them)

Follica: Has grown hair on humans, FGF9 may really boost their results too. Let's stay cautiously optimistic with them because they are working on a real CURE...like this whole thing would be forever over...I guess replicel is too.

CB: some forum members have already seen promising results from it and they aren't even using the correct vehicle that was used in the study. If everything goes well, we could see CB to the market in 2016-2017.

Topical Fin: Hasson and Wong are already offering it, but not the version with the new film. This has potential because there may be a happy medium where the amount absorbed in the bloodstream is minimal enough to not give us guys with sides, sides...but yet benefit our hair. Time will tell. I contacted HW and they said people have had good results with their topical fin (better than minox, not as good as oral fin, but no sides)

PDG2: people are supposedly getting amazing results with this, but again, time will tell. This has good science behind it, so it may be just tweaking the dosage.

Dr. Nigam Donor Doubling: We will see where this goes, but I am starting to believe.

Dr. Cole: Has been getting 10-70% donor regeneration with Acell, with an average of 50%..but still a 50% increase in donor would make a huge difference.

and don't be alarmed when after 2 months you have nothing down there, it will probably start to grow back at about six months..but then there are the unlucky few that just lose it for good...that's where choosing the right doctor really comes into play. Maybe you should go experimental and get a procedure with Nigam? I hear he "doubles the donor"
