Moral of the story: if you want to save your hair, don't wait around, get on finasteride or dutasteride ASAP, and be prepared to take the medications for a very long time indeed, because come 2023, you might get a few new cosmeceuticals on the market (think Neogenic), but the chances of a real progressive treatment emerging by then is extremely remote indeed.

Oh dear...everybody is turing very pessimistic again. This forum is insane, no doubt in a few weeks there will be some more positive news, then some negative news...and so on, and so forth.

It's not being pessimistic, it's being objective about the evidence for the progress of these upcoming "Cutting Edge / Future Treatments" and acknowledging that the future is very bleak indeed.

Sure, maybe Aderans is done for...but I don't see the need for everyone to start saying that Histogen is a fail, RepliCel is a fail (when we just got news they had 7mil invested to license and partner their hair regeneration technology), and Follica is 100 years away and they only grew hair in mice...when the chemicals that Follica is using are already FDA approved...they could have the treatment available to us in the next 5 years. Not to mention, CB would be here by 2016-17 at the latest. People are just so pessimistic it's unreal..and yeah maybe there is a reason to be because of what has happened in the past...but that is THE PAST.

Yeah I totally agree! If this forum was a human being it would be a bio-polar, manic depressive, multi-personality lunatic. People are all over the place. One piece of bad news and everything is ****ed apparently! And yes even I get like this, sometimes you just need to step back and not get involved. Easier said than done though.

These were my thoughts when I found out and tried to figure out another reason for this:

• You don't downsize your lab when planning to go to Phase 3! You expand. That's because instead of treating 200 patients at a given time, you are treating over 3000 simultaneously.
  
• You don't auction your entire lab equipment at a fraction of the cost when going into Phase 3 but rather build on it.
  
• If you are a multi-million dollar company like Aderans and your R&D department failed to come up with a better solution, you don't publicise it or boast about it but instead quietly shut down the program and move on with selling your wigs and transplants! (The show must go on)

I also have a feeling Histogen has HALTED their HSC program! They exhausted most of their capital to win the court battle and with this gloomy economic climate find it hard to find investors. They may fold at any point even though they have a decent growth stimulant on their hands! (Remember Neosh)

FOLLICA's recent news is also nothing but Hype! Everything they mentioned about wound healing & FGF-9 was conducted in mice. We have no way of knowing if this method will lead to follicular neogenesis in humans. After all these years, we should know better than falling for these lame tactics.

At least till now, REPLICEL has also NOT shown anything worth boasting about either. And to top it all up, their next update will be January 2015.

Bimatoprost also could NOT achieve results at least similar to Minoxidil, even though their formula was 9 times stronger than the eye drop formulation. They are now planning to increase the dose even further! I can assure you such high doses will NOT be without sides particularly permanent skin pigmentation and vertigo.

CB-03-01 was discovered to have anti-androgenic properties in early 2000! We have been waiting for over 14 years for the trials to begin in humans. This may come to market eventually but it won't be till 2018 the earliest! And that's if Cosmo Pharmaceuticals doesn't merge with another company by then and the new company doesn't shelf the product like they did with NEOSH.

I am not sure how to feel anymore! We've been dealt another major blow today. Even the 5 year mark doesn't look very promising. If Tsuji lab doesn't start their Phase I trial by 2015 then we will not see anything materialising from them till 2023-2025 as well!

Desmond you are the one who always overestimated the situation and a realization like the one you seem to be having lately was well overdue IMO.

You seem to be very disappointed now, which I understand, but frankly I think you have been very subjective in the past and convinced yourself that the reality of the industry is better than it is.

However, don't don't do the same thing in the opposite direction now. We have had very positive news in the last month, and quite frankly we all knew ARI was just going to give us an improved HT so I don't understand all the pessimism. Who cares about ARI.

Follica showed growth of HF in humans and this matters. That is huge. Seems like it's true that they only tested FGF9 on mice, but given the way they have behaved in the past, they are ahead of what they tell us. What they have done so far is huge and they are making progress in the right direction. You can't just wash all of Follica's progress with "It's probably nothing and they have only succeeded with mice" you know there is implications when they make discoveries and they are obviously pretty knowledgeable people in their field so if they are testing new paths to the solution it means they have a good reason to believe this might work.

You have no idea what Histogen is up to and no one told you that all the money Histogen raised originally has run out. We have emails from Naugthon stating the opposite. The whole "the economic climate is bad" is a very simple way to analyze things, there is plenty of money in VC if there is stuff to invest in, and by the way the trends in the VC industry you read about are old and have inverted.

Replicel data is phase 1/2A - you know things can very well change if they dose and continue to improve the drug. They are aiming for a full head of hair, which means there is potential for that. If they convinced a global player it means they have good reasons to continue...

Just relax, stay on fin, we will have very quiet periods of time ahead of us but let's not freak out anytime something moves.

In hindsight, histogen had very impressive results. I'm sure everyone on here would rather have injections every so often than pop a pill every day that can potentially **** you up.

Histogen proved IN THEIR SAFETY TRAIL to be better and safer than anything we have on the market. Now they are going to having a dosing trail which may further improve their results, but as of now...I'd still be stoked to have a treatment like histogen available.

Histogen is not a cure, Dr. Ziering even told you all this in his interview, it is just a better treatment than anything we have now. People were just upset because they were hoping that histogen would be the cure and it's not, but it's another step in the right direction and a treatment we would all benefit from even if it were released with the results they have gotten today.

I hate speculation, so I'm not going to get into this much further, but I would guess the reason why Histogen has been silent is they are negotiating deals for a partner to bring another trail and then release this to the market. (of course there would still have to be another phase 3 for the US people, but I would fly over seas to get this anyway)

Cheer up people, there are new treatments coming in the next 3-4 years.

Although Histogen is not releasing estimated timelines for market introduction of HSC at this time, we can say that at least one additional clinical trial will be required in any country where HSC will be brought to market. We would be happy to add you to the HSC interest list, if you would like. We provide this list with updates on the clinical trials, and plans for subject recruiting, as these progress.'

EXACTLY! There is NO WAY, I repeat NO WAY, histogen is dead or putting the brakes on when they had results like that with no major sides. There will be numerous investors interested in taking HSC to the market. It has proven in the safety trials, not even the dose ranging, to be more effective than ANY treatment we have today! and for over a two year time period off a single set of injections, I believe. Not to mention, Dr. Ziering said he saw with his own eyes a nw7 that wasn't a candidate for ANYTHING, become a candidate for a transplant. HSC is going to be a stepping stone and a great treatment. It is like getting great results from minox AND fin, and only having to have injections every so often plus no major sides...WHO DOESN'T WANT THAT? I sure as shit do. So here's to histogen being available in 2-3 years..4 at most. Then here's to Follica or RepliCel bringing this all to an end. (or donor regeneration if you consider that a cure)

I don't know, I sent an reply asking how to be put on that list and I'm awaiting a response. They took ages replying to my original email so it might be a while before I get an answer, I'll let you know if I hear from them
