    Propecia initial sides??

    Hello all,

I am new to the forum and would like to say I really enjoy reading everyones posts. It seems like a positive community where people can really help each other out.

My first question is in regards to Propecia side affects. I started taking Propecia .5mg a week ago and have taken it every day. The first day I had testicle ache and a few days later watery ejaculate and some trouble getting/maintaining a hard erection. Is this a common experience adjusting to the drug? I am 19 (almost 20) and a little over a Norwood 2. I don't care about regrowing any hair, I just want to keep what I have so I started propecia/nizoral. Any suggestions/comments? Also does anyone take .5mg EOD and maintain?

    Thanks

    Hi FearTheLoss

Happy that you started before it's too late.

I've been on propecia for about 8 months. The first 2-3 months were horrible in terms of that I experienced many side effects.

The only advice I give you is continue and never give up at least for the first couple of months!

I can tell you that I'm now fine, just keep going and stop thinking about them. You have a big chance of overcoming them

That's what I was thinking. Just wanted someone to reassure me! I'm aware of the possible side affects that some people have, but I am not intimidated by the small number that have them out of millions. However, I hope I do not have to be on this drug forever, is it reasonable to think that there will be a better alternative within 5 years?

Also, does anyone have an input on the .5mg everyday effectiveness and the .5mg EOD effectiveness?

Again, all I'm really hoping for is to maintain what I have.

To update anyone that was wondering. The sides have continued to wear off day by day as I believe my body is adjusting to the drug. I also have had some raging boners in the past 2 days so I believe this is a good sign. I'm glad I didn't freak out the first week and get off of it.

Good for you man....I hope it stops the hair loss and you gain some.

I didn't have any sides, but I'm older than most people on this forum, the medication has worked incredibly well for me in the last six months.

            Good for you.

The first day I had testicle ache
I know of a patient who touched the tablet for the first time and complained he had testicle ache.. .

Glad it all worked out for you.

How old are you out of interest? I do wonder if the older one is, the less likely hood of sides.

                54 years old, Jcm,

I think this may make a difference, I don't see older men complaining about side-effects, just the opposite, Propecia stops hair loss, and brings dormant follicles back to life.

I had a hair transplant on July 17th, they didn't put many follicles in the crown, now the crown is completely covered with hair.

Been keeping photos, I'll post all of them on my one year mark.

                Cheers,

                -Dale-

It does make sense! A small amount of DHT reduction can be healthy, especially when you are older, for prostate health and longevity.

Did you have any ED or penile numbness?

I had a minor case of ED between the time I filled the Fin prescription and I took the first dose. I _never_ had ED before. I think I caused this by reading about Fin horror stories (esp. propeciahelp.com) on the internet for almost a week before I got the nerve to take the first pill. Two weeks in - I've had the ball ache but that's about it, so far.

Sides have gotten much worse. The ball ache has completely gone away but I can't get a hard erection at all and the end of my penis hurts. Thinking about switching to .25mg a day or .5mg eod or maybe even .25mg eod..

Are you thinking about getting erections? I think sometimes the pressure of focusing on the normalcy of your erections makes them weak or even difficult to have.

I switched to .25mg eod right now and all sides have gone away completely. I'm going to stay on this for the next week and then bump it up to .25mg every day and then after another week or two of that .5mg a day where I will hopefully stay with no sides.
