Look at it this way: There are roughly 500,000 men taking finasteride worldwide. There are 2,224 registered users on Propecia Help forums. For the hell of it, let's double that number to an even 5,000. Let's say there are 5,000 men out there experiencing side effects from this drug. That is still only 1% of all men on it. Bottom line: There are a LOT of men taking this drug. Very few seem to experience side effects.

Again, I am NOT denying that side effects exist -- they clearly do. But there is a very loud minority who is great at perpetuating fear surrounding this drug. Also, chrisis, I don't think it was a great idea for you to be on this forum while being on fin. I would personally never do that. You should try it out again at a smaller dose (try 0.5 mg every other day). Just pop the pill, stay away from hair loss sites, and try to forget that you're on it at all.

Very well said. This is what Spencer has been saying on his show for so long. Its a small subset.
And I definitely agree about staying away from hairloss sites, specially during the first 3 months of using the drug.

Maybe I should be more clear. I never said its all in your head. All I was saying was that being on these forums listening to people tell you about side (alot of them never took the drug) actually does more harm then good. Thats all!! Wasn't the 10 year study based on Japanese men? If so, it only proves that Japanese men have a low number of side effects. Also, if a drug is affecting your sexual health, would you stay on it? Were the men on the trial rewarded for completing it? Were they being honest that they kept taking it? Too many questions. We just don't know the truth and that's the most honest and sensible position.

I really don't know, but I would imagine even if there is a difference its not significant enough to go from being 100% permenant impotent american man to perfectly normal japenese man. I guess it could exist to some reasonable extent.

The questions you are raising are all valid, but these same questions can be made about any other drug on the market. Finasteride is no exception.

Chris this may sound stupid, but I have heard that applying pure VitaminE oil to that particular area increases blood flow. There are some people on p-help.com that swear to it. I tried it a few months ago just to see if there is some truth to it, and maybe its in my head, but it actually made a little difference then how I usually am. I didn't pursue it any further cause the stuff is expensive, and I feel fine otherwise.

But yea it could be all in my head, just thought I should mention it.

Japanese men have totally different characteristics to men from Europe and America.

I've not say people shouldn't take it, I just feel like I need to be honest and tell people to be cautious.

But yeah, I probably won't take it again. I wanted to when I first came off it at a lower dose, but the prolonged side effects make me extremely wary.
