Nah, you can get this stuff over the counter. I buy from Amazon.co.uk.

Oral ketoconazole needs a prescription, but that's because it's potentially toxic.

2% is better than 1%, but 1% is better than nothing. You could consider starting with the 1% and graduating to the 2% later, which I did successfully.

And yes, you can use this shampoo with your Avodart.

Be careful not to over use Nizoral as it can make hair shed like crazy!!!!!
