Name-brand Propecia versus finasteride

What is the truth about the name-brand finasteride (Propecia) versus the much-cheaper generic finasteride? Some say they didn't get results from the generic, they switched to name-brand, and then they get results. But it takes a while for finasteride to kick in. So maybe they just think it's the brand.

Are they chemically the same, as we're told about generics? Or should we pay the much-higher price?

It's been debated that the inactive ingredients for generic effect absorption of the active ingredient.

I could be wrong BUT Generic does not have to have the same amount of the active ingredient as brand. 10 or 20%? However not everyone is the same and drugs effect everyone different.

I take brand merck proscar. It gives me peace of mind. It has been debated if the active ingredient is distributed evenly in the pill. I cut mine 5 times so I might get 2mg in one cut pill and maybe .2 on the next. Some maintain nicely on .5 daily while others not so much.

So you must be getting the 5mg pill. My doctor won't give me that. Says I can't cut it up evenly.

It should not matter. I use fincar and split it into fourths.

Generic works fine. Just as good as name brands for less $.

I use brand propecia and take it EOD works the same and as above peace of mind.
