Hi, I am new to the forum but have spent the last few days reading hundreds of posts to catch up on the latest in available treatments, including the experimental ones.

I am 33, and I think NW1 or 2 (1.5?). I have thinning hair in the crown and hairline, but overall have retained a good amount of hair. This probably due to my starting rogaine and finasteride within a few months of noticing my hair starting to thin when I was 24. Yes, I've been on 1.25mg of finasteride for 9 years and have been applying 5% rogaine once a day over the same period.

At 33 now though, I am feeling sides (low energy, no morning erections, gyno, and increased fat). I consulted a men's health doctor and he took blood samples. DHT was 9.3ng/DL (30 to 85 range) and total testosterone was 403 ng/DL (348-1197 range). He thinks finasteride is a bad drug to take long term so is suggesting I get off it. The doctor is having me do a 35 day cycle of clomid to try and restart my testosterone production.

So based on the last few days of reading I've done, I'm thinking of replacing finasteride with 50mg of topical RU58841 per day. That way I still have a growth agent (Rogaine), and anti-androgen (RU58841) and an anti-inflammatory (Head and Shoulders but switching to Regenepure). I am fine with my hair as it is, so I am just hoping to keep what I have while getting rid of the above mentioned side effects.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Many people have good results with RU, so you can try.

I would monitor closely if you do switch over. You're going from the proven realm to experimental chem from China.

Not only that you don't know what sides you are going to get from RU. If it was completely safe and worked someone would be marketing it for MPB. There has to be a reason that some company didn't pick up the rights and get it approved.

There are two things that are infinite, the universe and human stupidity.

What makes OP think RU58841 won't end up chemically castrating him? It's not even a commercial product, it's a research chemical that's designed to be tested on rodents. Where you going to get it from? China? Lol.

My cynical self thinks if RU actually worked there would be a huge demand, thus a profit, and some company would have swooped in and marketed it by now.
