Question for the older fin users

I'm 45 and considering going on Fin. A little about me, I'm receding in temples and starting to see advanced thinning on top. Been thinning rather quickly and wanted to do something to put the brakes on the thinning. I don't have the patience for the Minox. The thing that has scared me off the most is the posts about the guys who shed like crazy and claim their hair got worse. I don't shed a lot now (never more than 10 hairs). Could that be an indication of what I can expect on Fin? I've read about guys that shed 100 hairs in the shower. Are they just more prone to shed than me? Should I not let the scare of the shed and thinning prevent me from starting? I have a prescription in my bedroom that I can't pull the trigger on.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Shedding on hair loss meds/treatments is not uncommon and an initial sign they are working. Until you try it you will not know. If you do decide to start finasteride then my advice would be start off slowly and intro it to the body gradually in order to 1 help avoid and initial possible sides and also allow your hair to be intro's gradually - Rather than pants down night 1 ;-)

Hair loss is progressive so the sooner you can intervene the better in my opinion.

    Hope this helps !

Thanks for your reply. Do you suggest starting off at .5 mg as opposed to the full 1?

        Hi,
Yes, it may be reasonable to start the treatment with 0.5mg, though I have started with 1 mg and there were no side effects.
You've mentioned that you don't have patience for the Minox, but you need to know that it may take several months for Fin to start working. It took more than 4 months when I started seeing some results.

I was referring to the routine of having the apply minox twice a day.
