Once a day topical use of Rogaine (topical minoxidil 2% and 5%) is probably almost as effective as using it twice a day. Here's why.

I've been using it once a day, only at night, since October with great results, lots of hair regrowth. Most definitely you want to try it. I did it once, only once, in the morning and was like, no more. I would say... use at least double what you'd use in 1 session, and don't miss a day.

FWIW I use the liquid form, name brand Rogaine.
Hmm. Maybe I'll take your suggestion, even if it means getting slightly less hair growth than using it twice a day. I'm curious to see what happens.
But, what I don't understand is how using more Minox is going to improve results. The instructions specifically state that using more than the recommended dose will not improve results. Not saying you're wrong, but just wondering.

I think you're right, it's possible that using 2ml all at once on the vertex won't give you extra benefit. I think it has to be 1ml 8 hours apart. Personally I use 1ml on the vertex, and 1ml on the front, twice a day(total of 4ml). You can do this once a day in the night.

My shedding slowed down dramatically, really it slowed down. I'm on week 3, I no longer see all those hairs on the sink like I was seeing before treatment. It was scary. I haven't seen any regrowth yet and don't expect to see any for the next few months. But I am optimistic about seeing regrowth eventually, with daily, consistent use. It has shown me that it works(in stopping hairloss), now I hope it shows me that it can do a little more than work.

It makes a lot of sense to me that using more will give extra benefit. There's more of the drug. 1ml is just not enough to really cover/ saturate the entire vertex or the entire hairline. If you do it twice a day, you'll probably hit every part once, and then you're OK considering it has a 22 hour half life. But once a day, if/when you miss a spot it is not helpful. So I have been carefully following the advice above:

When using minoxidil once a day, use at least double the recommended dose, so that it will be applied to the entire area of thinning.

for 5 months with excellent results.

Good point. I didn't think of that.

Ya... anyway I strongly advise trying it only at night. I know what you mean about how annoying it is to deal with in the morning, once and I was done. At night its great... I spend 2-3 minutes applying it and forget about it. The next morning I wash it out, or not, it doesnt matter because its very dry at that point and undetectable. Easiest thing in the world.
