Blood test (DHT) with finasteride every other day.

just got mine back I took the dht test 6 weeks after already starting fin. My result is

2932 pmol/l

WTF is that on the ng/dl scale? I am trying to find a converter. In December of 2011 my levels were 4128 pmol/l so it is significantly lower in my opinion

The mine is about 900 pg/ml. Realized yesterday a new blood test with the dosage of 0.5 mg daily.

My doctor told me that my dht level was in the normal range but that may differ to what we consider a normal range in terms of hair loss. Do you know what it should be around to be considered low?

Depends. Some people using dutasteride can reduce DHT for 100pg/ml or less. I believe that a reasonable level to keep DHT is somewhere around 400 pg / ml.

I see. So will fin continue to lower my DHT levels say 6 months from now when I do another test? Or has fin gotten my dht as low as it can and now it will keep it at what I have now?

Everyone is different. I recall a study where 1mg daily reduced by anywhere from 50-70%. It ranges between individuals.

Does anyone know where you can get this test in the Toronto area? I've been on Fin for a year and a half and my hair is worse than when I started. My hair started to get thinner within a few months of starting Fin, which I thought was just a Fin shed, but it hasn't returned to baseline.

I was taking 1mg per day, but as of a few weeks ago I'm taking 1.25 daily, because I switched to the cheaper 5mg pill form.

I don't recall anyone saying fin didn't reduce dht. Quite the opposite, actually, we were confused by your results that showed an INCREASE in dht which was why we questioned your results.

Julio didn't you say that 1mg/daily decreased your DHT, but 0.5mg did not? Obviously you know this makes no sense if that is the case...

I think you are making a big mess. In the first test with Fina I realized I used 1mg every other day and take the examination after the "no day" there was no reduction in DHT show some charts around the internet.

In the second test (not yet left the results) I used 0.5 mg daily and performed blood tests the next day, usually.

They are different things taking 1mg every other day and 0.5 mg daily, as this may prove to be the half-life of the product could actually reduce the DHT for several days even with just one dose, as speculated, and as I have not seen in my blood test. Another thing would be to use a dosage less than one day and see what would be the reduction.
