Actual generic Proscar is much cheaper than brand name Propecia.

The real problem arises from attempting to divide Proscar into equal parts. You are not able to create equal 1/4 or 1/5 partitions so you are not always taking daily equal amounts.

Economically, you are better off sectioning Proscar, but in reality what are you taking each day. if your hair loss is insignificant to you enough to exist in a quandary regarding your daily therapeutic dosage, then i would suggest that your presumed daily dosage is similarly just as insignificant.

In the UK Propecia is approximately 3-4 times more expensive than Proscar.

The cost of meds, shampoos, vitamins etc do add up to quite a bit per year and for some this is a major issue.

Lkie Dr Charles says it will be good when a generic 1mg pill is available.Until then i personally use Proscar cut into fifths rather than quarters.

I am sure that Merck would rather the doctors write for Propecia only and not Proscar. They consist of the exact same ingredient, Finasteride. Hopefully, there will be a generic 1mg dose of Finasteride in the near future. You can be assured that Merck will hold out until the very last minute before having to let go of that patent. It is all about the money. I would rather have a patient cut the generic 5mg Finasteride pills into quarters versus not taking any Finasteride at all because they cannot afford Propecia.

Cutting Proscar will cost about $25 per month compared to about $60-$70 per month for Propecia.

now, i know that theyre the same except for dosage. how much cheaper is proscar if i cut the pill in fourths? are most doctors ok with prescribing proscar over propecia if cost is an issue?
