In fact, I wish I had skipped right to Dutasteride+Rogaine in my late teens, rather than at 24 years old.
DUT in your late teens?? Jesus.

You're still developing at that age, I know I was. I would never in my life consider taking that at such an early age. I think starting at 24 is starting relatively early, unless you were heading towards a higher NW prior.

Hey guys, i'm nearly a week in and I'm feeling really good about it all. I think it's a physiological thing as it feels like I'm actually doing something about mpb. I've spent months reading and doing nothing about it

After using regaine it actually leaves my hair feeling thicker. I get a slight head ache some mornings which lasts a couple of minutes but nothing too worrying.

I've had a few libido problems in the past so I wasn't ready to start taking prophecia. I really do appreciate people's enthusiasm on the drug, it clearly works for some people, however I don't think I want to take the risk.

I guess the thought of using regaine every day for the the rest of my life is a bit scary, but realistically I would be happy if i I kept the hair I have got until I'm in my 30's. (7 years)

The thought of going bald in my 30's isn't as scary (maybe that will
      Change)

I don't doubt some of those people have real problems. I know Chrisis had some pretty serious side effects he's documented on here. But I remember browsing that forum you posted a while ago and people were saying things like Nizoral gave them impotence, finasteride cause them to age 10 years in a few months, a week of use caused their penis to permanently shrink, etc. Just some really wild, outlandish claims.

If you are not going to start early, might as well not start at all. Just shave and move on would be my advice. Why play catch up at NW4-7. That is why so many people have bad things to say about their results with fin, or any hair loss treatment for that matter. "Give it some time before starting", "see how bad the hair loss gets", I see those kinds of advices here and in other hair loss forums all the time and it's definitely the worst advice to give some one losing their hair. If I had read and followed the advice I read in my teens and early 20s, i'd have been a lot worse than NW3 right now and to the point where i'd have given up. At least fin slowed down my hair loss enough that it gave me something to work with, something to hold on to and thicken with a stronger drug[dut].

It's all confusing. In correspondence with Finasinfo.com they tell me out of the 5k ppl they prescribe to, only 5 reported sides, and one guy quit. What are you supposed to think? I'd like to think they wouldn't lie to me, and perhaps they haven't. I dunno..

              DUDE
              . Stay away from propeciahelp.com.

I was in the exact same position as you half a year ago. I was soo wanted to save my hair, but I kept negotiating with myself:
              • "my hair will get better, I'm sure of it"
              • "I'll just shave my head and be a manly man.. hopefully"
              • "my dad went bald, so why can't I?"
              • "it's crazy to risk your sexual health for hair"

Hell, you can probably find me saying shit just like that in my earlier posts.

              Here's what ended up happening:
              1. I read sites like propeciahelp.com & even our BTT residential fear mongers.
              2. I went and saw a physician and then a dermatologist who confirmed I have MPB, offered me fin (to which I said, "I'll just keep an eye on it and see if it gets worse, then start fin")
              3. I kept negotiating with myself
              4. My hair kept getting worse and worse, I'd style it differently every couple weeks
              5. Finally I could see an inch back through my hairline in the bathroom mirror and said F*** it, as I was completely shook by the loss
              6. Ordered my finasteride
              7. Received finasteride in the mail
              8. Started taking it right away, ~8 months after first noticing hair loss, ~4 months after really being shook by hairloss
              9. Regret not starting earlier
              10. Continue to regret not starting earlier
              11. Hair loss stabilized and no side effects
              12. Regret not starting earlier some more

Please don't make my same mistake. Either get on finasteride right now, or shave your head so you don't have to look in the mirror every morning and feel like shit about it. If you wait 4 months like I did, you'll be disgusted with yourself.

Again, stay AWAY from propeciahelp.com. That's like not wanting to hear about people dying and reading the obituary.

Also to the guys in this thread starting finasteride: use Nizoral shampoo as well. If you get the 1% use it a few times per week. If you get the 2% people recommend not to use it more than 1 or 2 times per week. Ymmv.
