How long after a HT can you exercise?

    Hey all,

I'm looking at getting a strip FUT done middle of next month - trouble is I have military commitments that involve PT two or three times a week starting in the fourth week after the surgery. The PT sessions are usually only for an hour and like I say two or three times a week. Mostly cardio.

Just after some opinions on what if any damage can be done to both the donor and recipient area from vigorous exercise so close after the surgery?

    Cheers!

4 weeks in you will be fine.

You can start building up gradually after 2 weeks

If for whatever reason still tender at 4 weeks then the old sporting knee injury can play up

4 weeks though mate - no worries!

      Thanks for the reply Spex.

I've just spent the last hour or so reading through your sticky relating to HTs. Fantastic resource and a big thank you.

Out of curisity and to put my mind at ease, what sort of damage would be done exercising prior to this 4th week? Is there anything in particular that should be avoided even at the fourth week?

I would have thought once the grafts had "anchored" themeselves which I understand happens by around the 8th day, not a great deal could be done to the recipient area and it would mostly be about limiting the damage to the scar?

      Cheers again,
      AB

After 4 weeks very little you can do brutha to damage the HT.

It will simply be a case of thing being a little sore still maybe.

I allow no restriction workouts after 2 weeks. So at four weeks you should be ok. Just avoid excessive flexion of the neck (No chin to chest movements) for several months. It takes several months for complete wound healing to occur so even after sutures are removed you need to try and not over stress the donor area.
