I've had a couple of consultations but none of them actually use a tool or device to measure donor hair for number and quality. They basically just do a quick visual assessment and then give their feedback. I'd like to have a consultation where my donor area is assessed in more detail. There must be doctors or clinics who put more emphasis on donor assessment area during a consultation. Do you know of any that perform these measurements as a standard part of their consultation?
Which doctors/clinics actually measure donor area?

You're right to want more than a glance. The tool is a densitometer or handheld trichoscope, basically a magnifier with a camera, and under it they can measure your donor density (follicular units and hairs per square centimeter) and check the donor for miniaturization. That second part is the one that matters, thinner, uneven shafts at the back are the early sign the donor isn't as stable as it looks, and you can't catch it by eye.
You don't need a specific name, just ask any clinic straight: do you do densitometry, measure donor density, check for miniaturization, will you give me the numbers. The ones who do it properly won't dodge, and it has to be in person, you can't measure density off a photo.Last edited by Elithair; Today, 01:20 AM.
