How long do people usually wait between hair transplant sessions?

3800 grafts in. I’ve been doing PRP regularly. This was my first session and I’m considering a second one after the 1-year mark.

Most surgeons recommend waiting at least 9–12 months between hair transplant sessions so the first procedure has fully matured and donor healing can be properly assessed. Waiting a year also helps determine whether additional density or coverage is truly needed before committing to a second session.

Looks like a solid improvement already.

In terms of timing, most people usually wait around 10-12 months before considering a second session. Not because something special happens exactly at 12 months, but because that's when you can actually see how much growth and density you've really achieved.

Before that, it's a bit misleading. Hair is still maturing, thickening, and some areas that look lighter early on can still catch up.

From what I've seen, the decision for a second session is less about time and more about what's missing after things fully grow in. Sometimes it's just density, sometimes it's coverage in certain areas.

PRP can support things, but it doesn't really replace the need for grafts if more density is the goal.

      So your thinking makes sense.
Reassess around the 1-year mark, then decide based on what you actually see rather than planning it too early.
