I'm really curious...what exactly does 50-60 hairs/sqcm look like. I realize the overall appearance will depend on how thick or fine someone's donor hair is and the number of hairs in a follicular unit, but I'm not sure how it would look if I went forward with an HT...I just can't visualize it. I keep reading that number range on posts, does anyone have any pics that would show what this looks like???

Well pre MPB let's say density is 90FU/cm2. Average hairs per FU is 2.2. That's almost 200 hairs/cm2. They say if you restore 50% density or just above you can't tell the difference between full density and 50%. I'm not so sure. It may largely depend on an individuals hair characteristics. Sure a passerby might not be able to tell the difference but you'll sure as hell know if you're looking at yourself in the mirror with only 45FU/cm2 up front.

I think 60FU/cm2 is pretty damn good up front dropping to 50 behind it, then 40, 30 and whatever you can manage to get in the black hole that is the crown. The pictures are quite deceiving, hd videos are better but you really need to see one in person. I saw a guy with a transplant recently. I probably noticed because I've become conscious of my own hairloss. The uneducated eye wouldn't pick up on it but copped it straight off the bat. The density looked low but the coverage was decent. I could make his strip scar out at what looked about a 3 guard on the back and sides.

You really have to see work done in real life. If you end up norwood 6 you might have 8000-9000 grafts to work with and 250cm2 to work with. That would equate to a density of about 35FU/cm2 which doesn't cut it. If you ignore the crown and cover 150cm2, the hairline zone might be about 30cm2. You could do 60FU/cm2 up front and 50 behind. That's about 7800. Unfortunately the native hair can be so important but you can't rely on it to hold up. That's partly why people are so happy for a number of years but unhappy 10-15 years down the line when the remaining native hair decides to leave you.

It's important to understand the limitations of hair transplantation.
