Hi everyone,
I'm a long-time lurker based in the UK who has gradually been building up my knowledge around HT surgeries and I have started to take part in online consultations with a number of reputable doctors in Europe and a couple further afield.
As a 31 yr old NW4/5, it's occurred to me based on what I've read so far, that a FUT procedure might be the best starting point. I can't imagine that a single procedure will suffice and I am trying to take a realistic/longer term view of things.
However, each surgeon I've approached has advised FUE, generally around the 3000 graft mark for the front with additional work on the crown as part of a second/future procedure. I've tried not to give an opinion when first contacting them as I want to hear their expert opinions on what would be best. However, I am open that I keep my hair at medium length, so a donor scar issue wouldn't be my number one concern.
My understanding is that surgeons within Europe have been more pro-FUE and I've not seen a great deal of talk around those in the region who focus more on FUT or take a more balanced/mixed approach.
I've been told that FUE is just the way the market is going but my interest is more in the strongest result with the most grafts available for future procedures.
Can anyone share any opinions or experiences that can help guide me? I am open to travelling to North America if that's where the best options lie.
