    Potential beard transplant advice

    Hi Guys,

    I hope you're well!

I'm a new member to the forum and looking for advice from all you clued up individuals if possible please.

I'm 32 years old and live in the North West of England in the UK.

For my first topic I wanted to discuss my desire to get a beard transplant, I hope I've posted this in the right section.

My beard is fairly patchy. The sides don't connect to my moustache and my chin area etc as in the photos I've attached. Although the chin and moustache areas have good stubble, the side areas are very curly and whispy.

I was considering getting a beard transplant but wasn't sure what would the best way to go about it. I've heard using neck hairs is a good start as you may want to use the hairs on the back of your head if a hair transplant is required at any point, as my be the case with me :-/ So, therefore FUE of neck hairs is potentially preferential, but I then heard it can leave scarring which I wouldn't want visible on my neck for obvious reasons.

What would your opinions on this be?

Has anyone had or know anyone whose had this surgery that could offer advice or recommendations?

I believe Dr.Farjo based in the UK is good for this, but may charge around £2500 for 1000 grafts. How many grafts do you think I would need to improve my coverage?

Like I say guys, any advice is greatly appreciated!

Many thanks for any help you can offer.

    Kind regards,

    Chris.

    Hi Chris,

Also based in the UK here and I've had awesome results using minoxidil on my cheeks. In the last six months I went from only being able to grow a goatee and sideburns (both with poor density) to having full coverage, with the density increasing as time goes on.

Just another option to fill in those areas you're wanting to target without throwing down £2500 for the privilege.

      Hi notgivingup,

      Many thanks for the response!

Do you think that the minoxidil would fill in areas with no growth at all, particularly the downward lines connecting my moustache to the rest of the beard? As this is what bothers me most?

When my beard is longer it goes a lot fuller, although very curly and could do with thickening up due to not enough density.

Do you think this solution would be just as good as a transplant? Many thanks!

What minoxidil do you use? I've had friend's use minoxidil in the past on their head and said they saw no results :-/

      Regards,

      Chris.
