Messed up Donor!

hi. had a 2000 grafts fue 11 days ago. these pictures where made on day 7.
they told me my donor was extremely dense and i coud do some more fue's in future and now look at the pictures:







i'm so depressed and scared that it won't recover.
could it be shockloss, when it looks like that right after two days when i took off the bandage?

hey man, you have to give it some time before you can accurately gauge the results in both recipient and donor sites. Chances are, you're experiencing lost due to the trauma and it will grow back especially in the recipient site. It looks like you don't have crown thinning, but, isn't some of that FUE a little too high?

What FUE punch size did your doctor use?

they use punch size 0,6-0-7. you think there is a chance that it's only shockloss and it will grow back? it looked like that right after i took off the bandage after two days, like i said.

hopefully it's a kind of early shockloss :/
i really never expected something like this, because my hair in that area always was extremely thick and dense. almost to thick and dense.

Perhaps it is nothing serious and it will get better in the next weeks. It is still to early to judge now. Just make regular pics to document what happens.

This may get better with time but is also a good example of why its better in some patients to do several small procedures rather then one big procedure. Be patient, maintain close follow up with your hair doctor.

I concur with Dr Rashid. This is why it is good to do smaller procedures.


Saftey should be a doctors leading goal. This includes a proper surgical protocol.

I think it is massive trauma in one setting and some docs dont care because they want to maximize. I wouldnt say it will grow back entirely because some folks i spoke with, with a compressed extraction pattern and in a certain zone, ALL have shockloss isssues. Trust me, i completely know the feeling, especially right now.

Just keep an eye on it and document. Take monthly photos. Really wish you the best, but i cant give false hope because this is a maybe type scenario abd youll probably know around 9-12 month mark if you recoverred. Until then, document your progress and try to wait it out.

Don't be too alarmed just yet. What did your clinic estimate your donor density to be? Can you share the immediate post-op photos?

i asked them yesterday to send me the photos. i will post them asap. at the clinic they told me they never saw such dense hair in the donor area and that i could do some more fue's in the future. even the razor got stuck two times when they shaved the donor down.

before that procedure, my barber always had to thin out the back of my head, because it has been so dense.

i discovered some similar fue-cases like mine in some forums, but nobody kept posting. damn.

Depending on the extraction style and protocol, some folks recovered, some partially varying degrees, some didnt and are a repair work in progress. However, its early to tell but youll know in 9-12 months if it will be back significantly. You'll have to wait it out. Right now, it is not fully known. Who knows, you may see positive changes in a month or two, but it is early to tell.

Mine has not improved and needs repair and the doc said he will get all concerns and issues addressed but i am just waiting on that to get started and done with soon. Hopefully, it can be addressed and soon because it is quite frustrating. I used to be able to have decent fades when getting a cut with varying clippers but now there is halos amongst other concerns. Some other folks i know still have nice fades even after fue but most had manual fue by a doc themselves in multiple day small sessions versus tech extraction and one large procedure in a day or were repairs...


Lets hope for the best and no one can gaurantee how it turns out but can get an idea around month 9-12
