    Long term minoxidil effectiveness

Can someone on this forum tell me why the three dermatologists that I have been to each say rogaine can be effective for 5-10 years? You guys preach that rogaine is only a short term solution yet three doctors have told me that clinically it works for much longer. Any opinions? Every time I post this here I get no replies.... I find that interesting.

You don't think 5 or 10 years is short term?

I think Rogaine is effective over the long term. Many people have been on this drug for years and years to good effect.

I think the reason why people say that is because for people with severe hair loss can maintain for a short time. Rogaine is a growth stimulate but it does not stop MPB or DHT from miniaturizing your hair so rogaine will continue to thicken and possibily regrow hair but I think it would have to be hair that's still intact even the sligtest bit to regrow it thicket and stronger. That's why people use a supplement to stop the DHT in its tracks so it can prevent anymore loss and miniaturization along with rogaine to regrow and keep your hair thick.

But 5-10 years IS A LONG TIME compared to the minimal side effects. Hopefully in 5-10 years we have better treatments

I am using it for 7 years now. I woul say that at year 5 it stopped becoming as efective as before but it still works.

How long were you above baseline? To only lose 1 Norwood over that time span on just minox I consider a miracle

Would say 5 years. First year was incredible, had better hair than when I was 18. I was 30 then.
Was using Kirkland 5% 2 times a day, now only once a day 2ml. I ll try original Rogine now.
Also I have not missed 1 day in 7 years

Minox is one strange drug. I shed a lot but not much change to hair.
